compliment - hard song to sing (like all of Freddie's) ... and good piano playing ... I really enjoyed listening to the whole song

My own example: I have a high-basso voice (not bass-baritone), I can hit from notes from C2 to A4, but it is very inconvinient to sing in very low or very high tessitura. I'll explain: for me it is much more easier to sing a song with notes not higher than ~Eb4 and hit once A4, than sing a song with a lot of F4 (a not higher). The same about low register. In fact, comfortable tessitura determines voice type, not vocal range.

My opinion about Freddie - he was dramatic baritone with nice high notes. That explains his problems on stage, because there are two different things: to take a high note once in a song, or to sing in high tessitura. Queen Studio records show us high-tessitura songs, and for baritone even he has very high notes in his vocal range it is very difficult to sing in high tessitura.

Yeah, I noticed that he changed key. He had lower voice and could hit these tremendous notes so we have a chance too, lol. There are however some songs that he sang in the original key even on the live shows and that was fucking beautiful. Also, I agree that notes are not important but still music that sounds great does not need to be changed if there is no necessity to do so.

In Freddie's studio case - yes. But not in your case (at least while you will not study vocals). And one more thing - I don't think that Freddie was able to sing this song live because he had much lower voice than most people think. On live performance they often changed key, melody, and Roger Taylor sung highest notes instead of Freddie. So as summary - changing key - it's the right way. Notes are not important. How does it sounds - that's the main thing.

Yeah but it sounds better in the original key.

It's not an opera, so you can change key)

Oh, I can see how hard is it to hot these high notes... Cause I'm a baritone and try to do this too. Nevertheless, that was cool. Cheers from Ukraine

You have guts. I mean to put yourself up against Freddie is a big deal. But you pulled it off nonetheless
