OK. Loving this. Now, not sure if anyone has said this, but it looks like this was the beginning of his thoughts to American Utopia. I might be wrong, but I saw it on Bway...blown away. My god...I wish they had released this as a live album/cd. PO'd I didn't see this live.

I have an audience recording I made in July 1994 IIRC at the Starry Plough in Berkeley, perhaps even at the CD release show for Fashion Nugget. It is a partial set and that has always bugged me. I also recorded the October 1994 set that you uploaded here. Back then John spent lots of time trying to get the audience to sing along, which after seeing them several times I found rather tedious because it was the same schtick every show. In any case, they were brilliant back then, so fun to see in a tiny venue like the Plough or the Hotel Utah. Also clearly a band with a very bright future.

This is a recording I made 30 years ago - it was a great show. I uploaded it to a trading site (dime a dozen) in the mid-2000s. The notes are those I included with the original flac upload sampled from the cassette I still have. I'm glad it made it here to KZbin. I was happy to share it then and to see it shared now. I'm pretty certain that Up So Close and It's Coming Down had been in the set for a while. This was made several months after the release of Motorcade Of Generosity - I was at the CD release show at the Starry Plough in Berkeley in the spring of 1994. All of the songs they did this night in SF I had heard before except some of the covers. The Race Is On was a regular in the set back then. In any case, they were a band I saw a bunch before they were famous. It was clear that they were going to be a big deal. (edited, a correction and clarification)

I love the choreography. I love Annie's movements. I love how close this is to the American Utopia broadway show even though it is 5 years before the American Utopia tour and Everyone is coming to my house.

I love both of you so much. With being schizo and stuff, I trust both of you 100% even assuming you know stuff that I don’t, and even stuff that would be specifically against me. Isn’t that wild? That’s how wonderful you both are. ❤

According to the setlist, David performed a rare Eno/Byrne song called "Moonlight In Glory" at that very performance. Sadly it didn't got filmed... Does anyone know where we could find a decent recorded video/audio of the 2009 version of "Moonlight In Glory" ? Seems that the last encore, "Everything That Happens" wasn't filmed either btw...

There is a party / everyone is there / everyone will leave at exactly the same time. I’ll always think of a friend I met whilst travelling and how he raved about that verse and how much it meant to him. Wherever you are Falk, I’ll always think of you when I hear this beautiful song.
