I am from Japan and take some courses in the US. Both here and Japan have talked to many South Koreans. Unless you are very young, Its pretty obvious the US has taken over the ROK. And would never leave not matter if the DPRK fell. You can see that only the ROK has been almost totally westernized, Christianity is a major religion there, western stores, food and even the ROK has taken on US type terms. The KIA is actually the Korean version of the CIA and the KBI is a version of the FBI, many of the their military equipment is US made. Just visit South Korea ans its nothing Korean left. On the other hand Japan only has western type things in Tokyo, Osaka or other big cities as these are the only areas you see gaijins. Christianity had not taken hold in Japan and Japan has kept all of its heritage and culture. We build nearly everything ourselves even if a airliner is American, it is built in Japan. We do not cater to gaijins. China does not taken on western type ideals either. Most Japanese and many Koreans want the US out of both countries or 3 if you count Okinawa which is NOT Japanese they were taken over by Japan, like the US has Guam etc. Okinawa has their own language, culture and traditions and are more Chinese than Japanese as they were once part of China as well. Also why most of the US bases are all in Okinawa all 39 of them. Asia does not need the US or westerners and after WW2 most Caucasians or Europeans are gone from Asia and or SE Asia as a whole. Asians are also the planets majority ethnic group by a wide margin. Asia is leading the world in electronics, industry, automobiles and technology etc etc etc. Its clear the US does not want to lose its losing grip on the pacific. The only thing the US exports these days are weapons and war. Don't think so? So what country has been invading others for the past 40yrs? Which country has been in constant war for over 220+yrs and lost every one since WW2? Who is always involved in every single conflict large or small on the entire planet? Sorry for long comment but what is going on today with Israel, Iran and Ukraine is insane and who is supporting these countries wars? Who went to the middle east and nearly destroyed it all in 30yrs and still left the enemy in control? I do not blame the people as many citizens are against their government as well. The US is totally out of control, its broke, using borrowed money and worst of all its people are starving, homeless and many have no health care or insurance etc. But they keep fighting their and other peoples wars. What kind of thinking is this? South Korea should be very afraid as when you fully let the US in they will take it all over and spit it out when they don't need it. Like the US itself they also stole Hawaii www.ksbe.edu/article/the-truth-behind-the-illegal-overthrow-of-the-hawaiian-kingdom and despite opposition from the people it was the US congress who made Hawaii a state. The people did NOT want this and there is evidence of this and Hawaii may one day become independent.

Very interesting. I think I heard also that some Japanese colonial Era buildings (specifically military) have been abandoned and swallowed up by forests. Is that intentional at all, or is it just the nature of forests and abandoned buildings? I also wonder if this only happens with a certain type of tree.
