I just have finished the game! It's just so amazing and scary at the same time! The poems, the characters and their problems are so alive in the start of the game and in the parallel stories ! You can say that they knew what they were doing

I love how the first act of the game implements it's foreshadowing and slowly builds the characters. Monica's character design is probably the best example and my favourite hint that things are awry is the fact that she's the only character to be directly infront of the player, both in body orientation and in eye contact for multiple poses. She physically stands out of the frame, even some of her lines are directly linked to the gameplay aiding to the fact that she knows more than a romanceable character should.

8:24 i think Yuri also falls into the dandere archetype too, she first appears as shy, anxious, but kind and gentle at first the subversion would be that instead of finding that this shy girl is actually a sweet and caring person you find out a very disturbing side of Yuri, that definitely has yandere troped put on it so you aren't incorrect on mentioning she is a yandere, i just feel like she is a mix of both archetypes

1:52 i would say it's more specifically the genki girl archetype, because they aren't just know by they energy, but they are usually very positive, kind, sweet and bubbly characters as well, so it fits Sayori even better I hope i don't sound annoying or anything, i just like to specify things, really liked your analysis btw

Great analysis! I think you made an error when describing Sayori confiding about her depression, saying that that is when you choose to say you love her/she is your dearest friend. This choice is actually after she sees you getting close with Natsuki/Yuri at the end of their weekend event. Also, whilst the extent to which elements of the DDLC+ Side Stories are canon to the main story is ambiguous, I think it's reasonable to assume that even in the main story, Natsuki had "friends" outside of the club, just not friends she felt safe around, which is what the club brought her.

OOOH I'd love to see you analyze DDLC's poems! My favorite is definitely Amy Likes Spiders, and I rarely see people talk about Natsuki's letter to the player about Yuri (where she begs us to get Yuri to therapy and gives the player a better insight of what she thinks of Yuri even after everything), and the special poems, too! I think there’s a difference between dressing like a German soldier from WW2 for like a reenactment or something and just dressing as like Hitler for a weird Hetalia photoshoot. There’s different levels at play I feel, and it’s important to have enemies to fight in those situations.

Also I will just say that My favorite examples of hisyorical figures who may have been Aro/Ace or just had better things to do, are Tecumpseh as he is awsome but his celibacy is not very talked about and Also TE lawrense since he played a major role in the Arab revolt in ww1. Thanks you for the research ❤ I feel like you achieved a good balance of not judging a design by it's cover but also not ranking only on the amount of historical references. Would love to see your takes on other characters. Little bit sad didn't talk a lot about overall composition of the design. I know it kinda falls into opinionated territory, as you said yourself, but as a design student I learned that an excellent research might be wasted if it was implemented poorly. It's all about creating interesting imagery and the end of it all.
