A "tag" is 3rd party javascript that loads on your page and "does stuff" in that context, usually tracking or analysis of behavior. Traditionally this was done manually by adding snippets of js to your code. When these add up, it becomes complex and tedious. GTM was developed to be a "external" central command and control center to configure what and how 3rd party js runs on your site. So the GTM "tag" is all you need on your site, and it controls all other "tags" or 3rd party js that runs on your site. I personally think "tag" is a pretty dumb word for this. For one, it doesn't "tag" anything, and also is unnecessarily overloading an already common word with many meanings in the web space.

This is a great video, but its not for teh average person. You need a certain level of tech ability/knowledge to implement this. Personally I think you will need a web developer to help you set this up, its not straight forward.

I’m trying to track how often specific HTML elements (with unique IDs) on my website are clicked but can not see the the individual ID names in the reports. I've set up a GTM trigger ("All_Clicks_Trigger") for all clicks and a GA4 event tag ("All_Clicks_Tag") with parameters like "Element_ID" ({{Click ID}}). In GA4, I see the "all_custom_clicks" event in Debug View, with the correct "Click ID" values. Created a custom dimension ("Element ID") with scope "Event" linked to the parameter "Element_ID." Question: Is this setup sufficient to create an Explore report showing clicked element IDs by page and their frequencies? If not, what am I missing?

What if I created a website using WordPress? How may I paste the code?

What could be the reason for this error? "Your Google tag wasn't detected on your website." I tried inserting the code into WP plugins, MonsterInsights and the analytics code inserter on my theme but nothing worked. Still getting this error.

Everything shown in this video that related to GTM DOES NOT EXIST! It's Jan 10, 2025 and this video from Aug 30, 2024 is already completely outdated & nothing matches! Do better Google!
