I'm not a big fan of pianists using Scarlatti to show off their technique at the expense of the music, which I feel is what is going on here.

I was searching for this video as it's my favorite version of Sonatina in C Op. 36 No. 1, mvt 1. I'm glad it popped up again. I'll try and save it somehow.

Very interesting performance. Generally, I prefer a more romanticized version of this piece, which is what this is. I can't decide whether Andreev goes too far in that direction or whether to say the heck with worrying about romaniticization. I think I lean more towards the latter, since overall he's bringing out the best qualities of this piece. He does go pretty far with those ritardandos. Sometimes maybe a little too far. But the tone is about as good as I've heard. And that's super-important for this piece IMHO. It's interesting, though b/c when I compare this line by line to Danshepour I frequently lean towards this, especially tone-wise. But when I listen to the whole, I tend to prefer Danshepour. I can't quite figure that one out.
@jakes379911 күн бұрын
Actually, I take it back. The amount of romanticization is a bridge to far for me. But his tone is so good it makes Danshepour sound downright harsh in comparison. And I thought her tone was great. IMO if he could keep the same tone but be a little more Baroque (not all the way, but halfway), this might very well be the best performance of this piece on KZbin. And that would include Murray Perahia's version.

O my God!!! Che ricordi stupendi mi suscita tale sonatina.
Hello andrei It's been two years since my two kids started playing the piano after watching the Clementi Sonatinas video you played. I've been doing well in many competitions, and I'm practicing Beethoven's Sonata No. 21, Movement 1 ahead of the competition. Children want to listen to the Waldstein movement you played and refer to it rather than other pianists. If you have a chance, please upload it. Thank you so much for creating an opportunity for children to develop their dreams on the piano. I wish you all the best

Bravo , thank you ! 😊

This is so beautiful-- I love watching Andrei's fingers and hands up close-- such awesome agility. Too bad about the clacking in the mechanism-- maybe that could be taken out? No matter what this is masterful and a delight.

Here is the perfection that an incredible composer plus an incredible performer can give to us… Thank you, thank you thank you!
