Congratulations on another book; I was a contributor to your first book and love your ideas etc. That said, please take a hard look at how the book reads visually. It appears that almost all of the faces and hands (demos) are white; that doesn’t represent the world and in fact could be seen as an example of one the world’s core problems: systemic ( blind) racism. This is not an accusation but rather a critique as I know you have often worked against this very problem and would not want to disseminate a book that fails to reflect its entire intended audience.

Thanks for your kind and thoughtful words. I'm sorry it looks from the print outs (which are more pale than the richly coloured pages you will have in the actual book) that all hands are white - its actually only 9 of the 20 projects are with white models. I was very careful throughout the process to include an honest representation of the Craftivist Collective audience whilst also being sensitive to tokenism. All models have either taken part in our projects before or supported them one way or another and kindly offered their time and energy for free as models. Hopefully you can also see in the collage pages that we have a diverse group of craftivists voices and photos who have taken part too. I hope that puts your mind at ease.

Mental health is physical health. This is a fantastic way to get the attention of your representatives. And it taps into an activity that is pleasurable for many people. I used this technique and it works. Representatives and their staffers get many messages and they all look the same. This approach is an attention-getter. In a setting where staffers open messages, this approach is one that almost guarantees the politician will see it personally.

I have had severe mental health problems all my life and I appreciate many of the services Mind provide - their counselling and helpline services are a godsend to people who would otherwise receive a raw deal from the NHS. And when I say 'raw deal' I mean raw deal! But this stunt is downright ... well ... loony. It's plain gormless, tasteless, witless and aimless! If I was a MP and I got some letter held together by two 'lovely' buttons with a 'lovely' message inside, I'd think, oh yeah, looks like it's from some nutter ... It's ghastly! Please, Mind, do give us nutters credit for some taste and intelligence!

your creative work is good ...... but when you want to make a statement you don't make little craft projects .... this is a grown up world ...although maybe not your world or is this a crafts course for 13 and under age group ............... sorry you need to deal with reality ! ............... then again maybe theres more to your ideas and i just didn't see them ! .............
