Family is important, so is spending time with others, however make sure that "you" as an individual exist as well. This means being stubborn at times and ensuring you get YOUR way. The reason behind is that kids learn from deeds more than they do from words. So if you wanna teach your kids to be independant and self appreciative you gotta behave just like that.
