He already snitched. He isn’t facing time he’s just asked to take the stand to repeat statements he already made. This is a jury trial and it’s publicly broadcasted live anyways so whether you like it or not the jury will see everything even what the judge says can’t be used as evidence. Besides all the crimes that these guys have committed they’ve already been convicted it’s just now they have to connect all the cases and people to each other to prove the original charges they received were in furtherance of a gang. Even if all witnesses come and recant everything they said. They can’t lie on the stand. So they still acknowledge the fact that they had made those statements before. Which is all the jury cares about. They decide wether they believe your statement anyways so if they don’t believe you just don’t remember or whatever excuse you fabricate which most of the time they won’t because in trials like these there’s lots of influence and intimidation from the defense.
