I really love this video...especially for the great music of Waylon and Jim & Jesse......1967 was long ago, but the music is timeless.....

The Pharisees who ran the rest of mainstream television and radio and academia painted country music as corny and racist. They endorse the hippies and the doped-up rock and rollers. Now the hip is grandchildren have participated in two or three elections and we see the results. We will never get a culture back without bloodshed

Corny but cool. Great musical appearances. Thanks!

Late 1950’s and Early 1960’s and that nice polished Nashville sound. But it’s hard to imagine Waylon in that way, with slick back hair and a nice suit.

The Wilburn Brothers have gone unacknowledged for their great contribution to the country music industry, not only as the hosts of their television show (as well as its creators, I believe,) but also for their long performing career including many appearances on the Opry. They promoted new talent, including Loretta Lynn, they published music (I think both Wil-Helm--Wilburns and Don Helms-- and Shurefire were their marques,) and they seem to have been prominent in the music industry in general in that era. I don't think they're in the Country Music Hall of Fame, but should be. They are probably unknown to the vast majority of fans of classic country music, as many of the real greats of the past would be to the younger generation. They also had great musicians: brothers Lester and Leslie, Don Helms, Curly Chalker, Hal Rugg, et al. They may have had some rough edges (the contract dispute with Loretta Lynn, for example) but surely they don't deserve to be as forgotten as they have become.

Also the great Buddy Spicher, "first chair in the Nashville Symphony Orchestra" as he was once introduced!! (fiddler extraordinaire!)

Great to see these 60's opry shows, we didn't see any of these over here in UK . I takes time and effort to digitise them to upload, I'm sure we all appreciate it. Do you have any shows from 65, 66 with Red Sovine ( Giddy up Go) , Willis Brothers ( Back up and Push, and Gonna buy Me a Juke Box ) Pee Wee king (When the Lights Go Dim Downtown) Johnny Bond (Ten little bottles) , Glenn Barber( Stronger than Dirt) , Adrian Roland (Exactly like him) , Jimmy Skinner ( This old Road) ? These songs come from two LPs I have on Starday of the 39th and 40th anniversary celebrations of the Grand Ole Opry 1965 and 1966. I love the fantastic Pedal steel guitar licks from Pete Drake on these two albums I always wondered if they were ever televised ?
