This is really cool, but why is it all underground? Looking at the area of the line and its surroundings there doesn't seem to be much of anything that would restrict the Metro from being above ground. Looks like a bit of a money sink just to allow for a tiny bit of more dense developments, tbf tho building underground is also rather cheap when building on an open field but the semi-swampland conditions sound like a nightmare for cut and cover construction.

This video labels this train a subway, which to a US audience would suggest an intracity line with frequent stops, like every 1/4-mile to every 1/2-mile … but judging from the distance this travels, it seems more like an intercity commuter line, with stops every 2-to-5 miles, and which just happens to travel through a tunnel. Very nice design, though.

that's because amtrak runs on rails owned by the freight companies, and the government doesn't bother to enforce the rule that passenger trains get priority over freight. With no political will nothing will change
