Now the zoos gone there should be a museum of the archive. The zoo was the only place that helped with my depression. Was 39 when zoo closed n had been at least 3 times a year my whole life.

When we feed the leeches with cow blood, after a few days, some of the leeches got sick and have different shapes. We clean the water, besides that what should we do about that? to not sick?
@retardedsaiyann
@retardedsaiyann 6 ай бұрын
Reduce water level to a low level, and add catappa leaves/alder cones. The cow blood you fed them probably contained harmful thinners that can kill a leech, so find somewhere else to get the blood from.

Elephants won’t be in the new zoo. Also, most of the animals that were in Brustol Zoo Gardens have new homes in other zoos. Bristol Zoo Project will focus on species where the team can have a conservation impact whether through conservation breeding or conservation work in the wild

The plans for building imposing, high density luxury residences on the zoo site must be opposed as they will do little to alleviate Bristol’s housing problems, will increase traffic immeasurably and are totally out of keeping in a conservation area. Local community liaison has not been conducted nor views taken on board. Very few of the animals are being located to The Wild Place, with most mammals being given to other zoos. 45% of the trees on the site will need to be felled. Yes, urban zoos and caged animals have had their day but the zoo management board have not considered alternative, low rise proposals for the site such as OurWorld Bristol’s transformative proposals for a sustainable attraction that utilises a virtual and augmented reality animal kingdom, educational and immersive experiences set within a lush future-proofed environment. They have opted instead to seek planning permission for inappropriately large and high value housing with little outside space, in order to maximise revenue. They plan more residences than parking spaces forcing traffic to park on the site’s (pedestrian) thoroughfares and the (already congested) local streets. Assurances that the grounds will still be open to the public could be rescinded by the developers at the earliest opportunity and are not in the gift of the zoo management to make anyway. A picturesque, historically important part of Bristol’s fabric that attracted a constant flow of visitors except for an obvious pandemic dip is being ripped out to generate an inappropriately sized luxury gated community. It will be a tragedy for Bristol if a small number of zoo management ‘leaders’ assisted by highly paid consultants and legal teams gain planning permission for a project that is motivated by profit regardless of community objections.

thers a huge difference between hunting and unlawful commercial hunting (poaching). no self respecting hunter would pursue a species to near extinsion to do so is extermination not hunting and unsustainable which is not in keeping with hunting ethics

Completely agree, especially for those who have relied on a certain food source since before the poachers arrive, their livelihood must be preserved as well

Erm ..no? It's about the space and the animals - the site has closed but the zoo will continue once the exhibitions & habitats at the new site have been built. You can still visit the Wild Place, Bristol Zoo's sister site and where the new Zoo will be built in the coming years
@koalamullet
@koalamullet 2 жыл бұрын
@@olo101olo if you read their reasons for closing, it is about the financial challenges Bristol Zoo have been facing since COVID and subsequent lockdowns. So it is about financial issues faced, not animal space. The animal spaces at Bristol Zoo were well suited for its population of smaller species.
@olo101olo
@olo101olo 2 жыл бұрын
@@koalamullet Okay, but talking to staff during recent visits the new Zoo site will allow them to focus on conservation of species the current site would not allow them to do so while money is, unfortunately an aspect in almost everything in our lives, one of the underlying aims is better fulfilled at a larger site where the animals are the focus and have more appropriate space - such at the Bear & Wolf woods at the Wild Place
