Have you ever considered using a soft soldering technique around the edges of the tin items to create a more finished look? I think that will greatly improve the look as it gives it a frame.

Your demo of setting the 2 part compression rivet misses the use of attaching the metal to another piece of metal. Unless setting that rivet just for aesthetics there’s no point to putting that in a single sheet of metal.

Nice information, just wish you were in the camera frame when you were working on the projects. Unfortunately, just frustrating to the viewer.

I really liked your video and the end results were very pretty. I've saved your video into my bookmarks folder. When you mentioned the double sided tape I thought, you could make any paper into washi tape by adding double sided tape to the back and cutting it to the width you wanted. Thank you for giving my imagination a new idea to work with.

Thank you, great video. When you have a cupped circle item on top like you did, how can you turn it over to hammer the brad/rivet without it bending the cupped circle item on top?

All kinds of places. I try to shop at local thrift shops and antique stores. You can find lots on EBay and Etsy too. Once you start looking for them, you tend to find them everywhere.

metal can be "work hardened" wire also.It becomes more brittle or hard. like when you bend wire repeatedly it will snap. running aluminium through the big kick has that affect also. good to know, thank you! so many good informations. 😍

Great video. Love all the info! Just an observation, couldn’t you add a shim when using the dies from China? Each machine is going to be different and adding additional layers of card stock or thin metal should help to create enough pressure to cut through the tin. Cheers from FL😺

I really love vintage, and would have probably kept that tin to store vintage doo-dads. Your earrings turned out really cute though. I would love to see you do a pair or earrings or bangle honoring the vintage of the pattern for the Retro clientele also.

What kind of gloves do you use for the tins?
@alyssumpohl2 жыл бұрын
I feel like I must be doing something wrong as I cut a tin into useable parts. I have a pair of metal shears from Home Depot, but it just seems really awkward to cut. Could you do a video about that part of the process? Is it just a matter of getting used to using metal shears? I'm having difficulty with getting a straight line without a bunch of burrs as I try to re-set the shears to the metal along the edges. it's really messy and the edges end up super jagged.

@@atomicanucleibycatina7861 why did you run it through the big kick?
@atomicanucleibycatina78612 ай бұрын
@@TanKatLuvr1965 I used the big kick to emboss the tin. Sometimes I use it to flatten the tin evenly (sandwich tin between closed folder and plates).

I love your tutorials!! What gauge of metal can the Cayla leather punch be used on? Thanks!
@atomicanucleibycatina78612 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Probably 20-22 gauge. I find it’s not so much the gauge but the hardness of the tin. Trays, canisters and bowls usually are too thick, especially if they are Daher or Baret ware. When you break down the tin you will be able to determine if the dies will cut through. Be sure to choose Sizzix compatible. Regular leather punch tools will not work.
