The reasoning is because some Russians did this so that breaks didn't matter. Having tight skates didn't hurt until you took them off

Unless it's a bad break where your toe or finger is hanging off then you let it heal. Broke a finger playing football. splint it and it will heal on its own.

People think this is cool, but basically they were getting paid little to what they earned, while often ending up disabled and broke when they were older, Workers rights and health and safety are important.

The little toe has usually no load on it, so basically giving it some stability in any way basically fixes most of the problems. the bone should heal easily (unless you somehow twisted that mf off). I pressed some tissue around it and put my foot in a tight shoe. Didn't feel much of the pain. I guess ice skates are even better because you never move your foot.
