I was a little off put at the beginning, but once I realized the theme I was totally charmed by all the characters! I've been binging SW fan films and this has to be my favorite so far. A lot of these films get mired in being overly serious and forget that it's the heart that ultimately connects with viewers. You probably couldn't do something like this today for fear of it being labelled cringe, but shame on those people for not recognizing the brilliance of satire and the earnestness of these performances and how it pays a bit homage to films like Space Balls. I love all the little things here like the wide eyed but focused expression of Blue 5 sounding off at the start. Outstanding visual effects that still hold up extremely well today and I love that the ending is rooted in SW lore. The only downer was looking up Frank and discovering he's now involved with shady crypto and hair restoration schemes😮‍💨

Blue 2, and this is just me. If this was the imperial academy, there would be a good chance that they would probably promote you, but its not not. The rebellion doesn't tolerate jokes like that, and because of your joking around, you are hereby effective immediately expelled as a rebel pilot and charged with the death of your fellow pilot. When we return to base, you will be punished. That's just me.

Visually stunning, but I turned the sound off at 3 minutes in so I wouldn't punch the balls offa myself to mask the pain of the insufferable dialogue.

The CGI, composting, direction.. This is a visual masterpiece. The story? It leaves a lot to be desired. When a prank gets people killed, there are consequences. When I think "Star Wars", I'm not thinking "goofball comedy with no repercussions" (like how so many office comedies would ordinarily have people arrested by the bushel for sexual harassment). Making jokes while you're in the middle of a fur ball when you're vastly outnumbered? Maybe it's because I'm a civilian in the Air Force and I work side-by-side with people who've put their lives on the line... Yeah, I know, "crotchety old guy can't take a joke". But I can say - from a technical aspect, this is absolutely outstanding. Even the acting, for the story, was better than what you normally see in fan films and I have to say the editing is WAY superior here.

While the visual effects and fighting choreography are quite good as far as fan films go, the humor is the biggest hamper on this due to it making all the rebel pilots having no real care in the world about the dangerous situation they've found themselves in while cracking cringe jokes with a horrid script that ended up breaking my immersion quite quickly . Seeing around a dozen or so X-Wings vs 1 SD with a full fighter compliment and win is quite the stretch, watching the X-Wing literally fly through the ship was also extremely hard to believe as well. This fan film at this point is getting a bit on the old side, with some of the new models coming out by EC Henry and Fractal Sponge, the filming techniques used and improved/varied models would make for a fantastic fan film.

No Good, because when in actual war, all kidding and joking gets put aside, and fight for survival becomes paramount, and focused - fear attention takes over. sound as if the squad is on somekinda joy ride in the mix of battle .Just my thought.

I will never knock someone's effort, when I am not able to offer something better. Anyone who puts in this level of work and polish deserves to be commended. It's visually outstanding!! The modeling, shading, VFX quality, sound, set design, costumes - PRIMO! The story has the potential to be pretty interesting...decent premise. The only thing that stunts this piece from being really good, is the acting. It's really not good...too campy, too chatty, too...well...all over the place.. If the point was to paint a rookie squadron that's hapless, thoughtless and corny, then it worked. I think that anyone brave enough to fly an x-wing into battle, should be a bit less lackadaisical and aloof in the cockpit. I really like the premise and visuals...just the acting takes away form it being even a bit whimsical. Okay...now ya can bash me.
