The center that gets punched out, can you mount that on the ring.
@CoinRingMaker4 күн бұрын
I’ve seen some people solder it on the ring, I make them into keychains. I don’t like how it hides the details on the band.
@lefthanddrummerable4 күн бұрын
@CoinRingMaker right, i thought of that too. I have one my dad brought back from Germany made of a German nickel, they stamped this crazy lookin eagle out of the center and soldered it on the ring. My dad traded a pack of cigarettes for it

Would you recommend just buying ball bearings instead of doming kit?
@CoinRingMaker9 күн бұрын
The doming block is really all you need. That and delrin balls is what I use now. Ball bearings are good but delrin leaves more details. 3/4 inch delrin balls and a doming block and you should be set.

Did you have any problems on the kobra 3 with leveling and first layers?
@CoinRingMaker15 күн бұрын
When I first got it yes. I tried messing with the z-offset. Don’t recommend that approach. I factor reset then updated the firmware and haven’t had any problems since.

So Iv been watching this content for about a day. I kinda want to do this with Unpesos (1957-67) they’re cheap. Have a fraction of a bit of silver content and people don’t tend to like them. The coin is pretty big though. I wonder what I would need for something that big?
@CoinRingMaker19 күн бұрын
Probably a larger sized 17 degree die and a different punch.
@xbigbobsagetx19 күн бұрын
Been watching your videos all morning. I have a few unpeso coins. (1957-1967) 10 Percent silver and essentially the rest is bronze. Big coin. Would these be ideal to use for rings? Or too big?

When I started I sold them for $5 now I charge $30 after 6 years of making them.

Greetings from Ireland. Can you use the press to punch out the holes instead of hammering? Nice work by the way.
@CoinRingMakerАй бұрын
You can. It’s tough to do a 1/2 inch punch in a quarter with a 1 ton though. Plastic hammers are like $5. I much prefer using them.

Nice Video! I have copper .999 fine coins, silver dollar replicas. What size die or additional materials would I need for these copper coins to make rings?
@CoinRingMakerАй бұрын
This is my recommend tool list. coinringmaker.com/recommended-coin-ring-tools/ I do recommend annealing copper, it can be tough to shape. What size are the rounds. 1/2 oz are much easier to work with than 1 oz. You’d need 17 degree dies.

Using a brass hammer is much better than nylon. Not that expensive. They also make ones with interchangeable tips. 👍🏼
@CoinRingMakerАй бұрын
I don’t like how quickly my steal tools mess up brass hammers. The plastic one lasts much longer and works just fine.
@LwimmermastermetalartАй бұрын
@ that’s true except it takes a bit more hitting with nylon , brass just packs more of a punch. But what ever is best for you, is the best. It’s very easy for me to resurface brass tips on my lathe and why I prefer it.

@CoinRingMaker I stand corrected. There are 40% silver proofs from the 1970s. But as you pointed out, there are none for the 80s. Thank you for clarifying that for me and others.

Do you print in anything other than PLA, such as PETG? I’m really curious how well the sv08 handles support removal with PETG. Bambu does it really well and other do not always.. so I’m curious if the supports break away easily and cleanly

So far just PLA on this printer but supports have removed just fine.
