End game iPhone audiophile headphone setup is a pair of Senheiser True Motion Wireless 4 IEMs for traveling (on planes and noisy rooms and outside), and a pair of Hifiman Andanda BT V2 wireless open back planar headphones for listening inside in a quiet room environment. In both cases, the DAC and amp is embedded in the headphone, and gives you incredible levels of resolution and detail and soundstage that can only be beat by headphones and DAC/AMPs costing 10X as much or more. If you want to go beyond that, then a dedicated dongle DAC and wired IEMs costing 4-5X the cost of the Sennheiser/Hifiman Anandas will beat it, but not by a huge margin. For wired IEMs/DACs the 64Audio U12T paired with the THX Onyx Dongle DAC is better, but the combo costs $4500. Then above that you get into desktop rigs like Hifiman Susvara paired with Benchmark AHB2 and a KTE Holo May DAC. Cost of that system is around $12k. The ultimate end game headfi setup is the Hifiman Shangri La Sr. paired with a world class DAC and world class headphone amp like LTA-Z10e or Woo Audio WA7e. That’s as good as it gets and is top of the mountain for headfi.

Strictly spoken, it isn't an amplifier because it can't amplify. It's an attenuator.

Great but expensive speaker. Beware, you really need a powerful amp. My 250 W Hegel 390 is just enough to get the bass out, but a H590 or H600 is the better choice.

Hi I’ve just bought one second hand. I’m wondering if you have done any more videos about it. I’d like to find a video of how to set it up. Mine is stuck on modest volume -30 on the screen. Maybe that’s because it doesn’t have an internet connection yet. ( hopefully arriving today ) Cheers

Hi, when the unit is turned on, press the central button shortly twice. Now turn the button untill the limit indicates 0dB. Now longpress the central button twice, and you’re good to go 😊

Sounds like the fyne’s haven’t found a way the solved the issues the previous Tannoy speakers suffered with . I have been offered a massive discount on the SP version and had hoped the harsh sounding trait wouldn’t be a problem. Have you heard the F500sp version?

I haven’t heard the SP, but I’m told they are a good improvement, definitely worth a listen!

I wonder if the sonic difference (in particular the SS depth) bet. UltraCap LPS-1.2 and PH SR4T is due to the available power / VA. The amperage of UltraCap is 1.1A versus 2A on SR4T. Both are quality LPS as far as I could tell but the available wattage on SR4T is almost twice as much reserving for headroom even Qutest only needs 1A technically. I had similar experience using LPS of 5V/1A versus 5V/2A (or 5V/3A like Allo Shanti LPS). The higher wattage LPS provide noticeable sparkle on the table...
@SmallRoomAudio2 ай бұрын
Yes could definitely be that. The Ferrum Hypsos allows you to play with the power settings, and it’s amazing how that can change things!

Very cool to see what can be done to convert a loft closet to a music room. I bet it's like the TARDIS with your eyes closed! I have an Ares2 and Ares12th in 2 different systems. Wish they had remotes, but no complaints about SQ. Just natural timbre and spacious soundstage. 🎵🎶😊👍🎶🎵

I'd be scared to buy Harbeth just in case my Amp wasn't up to the job, plus the wife wouldn't understand me spending 5K on a pair of speakers. You should give Triangle Borea 10s a listen as these are what I did buy, you might be surprised !

I currently own the KLH Model 5's and wonder how the Tannoy Eaton's sound signature compares. I think the bump in the mid-range for the Harbeth C7's would not be to my preferences. I like a punchy bass, some sparkle up top, but a smoother midrange. Do you have any recommendations?

Could you please enlighten us with your particular Khozmo linestage specification? 1. Was it shunt or ladder type? You've already mentioned resistors, but not the type of attentuator. 2. What was the input impedance please? 10k? 20k omhs? 3. What DAC was connected during test? It couldn't be your Qutest due to XLR and could be one of Chine's one w/o buffer. 4. What amp was connected and what was its input impedance please? 5. What voltage was provided by DAC and what voltage sensitivity amp had? Passive linestages are not always match - sometimes great, sometimes decent (your case) and sometimes horrible. XLR has trouble due to the some DACs missing buffer and/or having too high output impedance - I would like to get general idea on your situation before making a jump and buy one. RCA could improve the bass, particularly with great DACs with buffers (secret weapon of Chord Qutest for example and its 1ohm brilliant output impedance). Anyway, all the best to your family life. Checking weekly on your channel as unlike many other, this one spoke to the heart. Complete user experience, no BS, same as I am experiencing daily (btw, owning few Ghotic cables as well, many thanks for the tip, they are amazing!).

I have a pair of the Mambos, the floor standing big brother of these Mojos. I bought them because they have a very small footprint for floor standing speakers, but they benefit from extended bad which goes down to about 33Hz i believe, so great for those bottom strings on a bass. Yes, they take a bit to drive but the sound is superbly balanced with great detail. Bad is fast and just the right amount, not augmented or bloaty. If it's on the recording it will dig out our and play it well. If it's not it doesn't try to make up for it with mid-bass peaks. Mids are smooth and highs are detailed and airy, but not bright and tiring. I listen to all sorts from 90s thrash & 70s blues rock to jazz, classical and electronica. They just don't disappoint. Love them to bits.

I bought the C298 after listening to your review and others. I plug my Hugo TT2 straight into it and so don't have a separate pre-amp stage. I love the clarity this brings. Don't think I can justify the extra investment for the M23 beautiful though it is.

Have you caught wind of all the T778s that have been failing? It’s 3 years old and the amp modules have blown. I went online and saw in NAD groups that this is a well known and common problem. When I reach out to them, they told me I’m out of luck and that my $3000 paper weight is out of warranty!! WTH

Definitely the best user/owner perspective review I've found, in particular with respect to the Luxman. Thank you very much. I have a beautiful but very old Luxman that I absolutely love and I can't really find anything that I prefer, regardless of price believe it or not. It only has RCA connections .... would it work as a preamp with the M23? I ask because I am seriously considering the Sonus Faber Olympica Nova IIIs but my old Luxman won't have the power to get the best out of these speakers. Thanks again from downunder.
