I had my Sony A7riii converted to monochrome by Monochrome Imaging Services in Washington State. The camera responds to color filters in the same way as does black and white film. The Sony produces files that have a color cast that is quickly and easily removed by a utility called Monochrome2DNG. The DNG file imports into Lightroom without any cast, and with wonderful detail. I live in California which was home to black and white film legends including Edward Weston, Ansel Adams, Wynn Bullock, Ray McSavaney and a number of others.
