I know it might be a bit late of a reply, but could be an ill timed CMOS battery failure. Or since you changed the processors settings, taking the battery out will reset it to factory settings. You could also try resetting the SMU. support.apple.com/kb/ht1767

open it up clean the logic board aroundwhere there are capacitors just clean it with detergent and dry it it should work IT IS ONLY TEMPORARY though like a month or 2 i dont know

Yesterday I turned on my Macintosh Classic II and pass the same thing that happend to you. And 10 minutes later the computer shut down and then, the computer boot was like ever.
