I think the “score line” people are seeing is the hot wire smearing onto the very hard glass. This glass-cutting trick is repeatable with a string soaked in fuel around a glass bottle, lit on fire, and then cracked with cold water. The thermal shock cracks the glass along the line of greatest tension, which is the very hot, thin outside line where the string burned or the coil rode.

Hi, really helpful video but could you help? I really like the soft start but in the UK we use 110v on-site, which is the saw I have, do you know if there is that a module for that?

The idea is good. You made it no worse You are not going to be in that DIY crowd that doesn't know what they do in first place.

Nice to see you start off with the proper technique but why you changed from the front you started on and then showed the finished result on the side has done absolutely nothing but set yourself up for the KZbin trolls to feast on your upload ohh and how they with no life’s do enjoy their feasting! But nicely done on the technique 👍🏼

This is a really cool system. The fact that you don't need any fancy electronics, yet it's super simple and effective, makes me want to build this. In fact, I think I'm going to build one! Thanks for the awesome video :)

We used to put water in a bottle wack it on an oven element and eventually it would crack at the water line( usually) it was quite a regular thing we did as we needed open bottom bottles for a ummmm .... pastime called "spotting " that we do here in New Zealand... Kiwis know what I'm talking about 😉

Great idea - but would it be possible to make the dimensions a bit easier to follow for the metal catch? I found it a bit tricky to follow along - and as a result version one is not quite right - but I’m not complaining - version two will be better….

Why dont you show scoring a line around the bottle with a glass cutter...? I mean you can clearly see the score lines when you are dabbing the water on. Moar fake vids I guess, too bad, was pretty cool until you tried hiding that fact!

You are not parting the glass that easily without scoring it first.

Firstly why do you want to cut bottles, secondly, who would spend hours and buy all the tools to make something that cuts bottles
