Why didn't you put a 1/8" shim on the striker side?

Another option is to use a 4x4 ground screw fence post base. Less than $20, then buy your own pressure treated 4x4 for under $10. You'll need to buy some hardware, but no dig, no cement, will probably last longer, too.

Did you check for utility lines? Also, you could place a piece of, say, 2x4, on top of the wood post and hammer without fear of splitting.

Dude, How do you still have a job? If a fiel Supe saw these videos where I'm at, I would have been history in minutes. They wouldn't even wait for me to come back to the station. They would just meet me in the field with a relief driver and tell me to leave the truck right there and send me on my way to the unemployment line.

I have a interior door where the top of the door when attempting to close the door butts up against e top of the door frame for about 5” and therefore the door does not close properly through the striker. I thought about sanding down that area but not sure how it would look from the outside of the bedroom door itself. If you try to shut the door as you are exiting the room, the area I am talking about is the upper left corner of the door hitting the door frame when I attempt to shut it. I hope this makes sense. TIA

AWESOME job! Now, what do you suggest to me for the kitchen countertops & bar top (I'm starting with the bar top!)--I'd love to add some crushed glass--but not sure how that would work (in the final layer)....Suggestions? I've seen a lot of videos where it's just set into the final layer & lightly tapped down so it's flush with the concrete.....But I don't want to ruin it! HELP ! ! ! ! Thx....Also I will have to use a food safe sealer (511 &/or Cheng brands) in that application....

Should i use a grout cleaner prior to putting on new grout? I just bought a home and was planning on just deep cleaning all the grout and resealing, but noticed a bunch of pin holes and one larger area missing, so im thinking of just going over it. Thanks!

I appreciate the materials reference, but the video missed showing how he removed the old grout with a screwdriver. Removing the old grout is 90% of the project. Not too helpful.

Tip: if you are hitting the post with a sledge, put a board on top of it and hit that instead. A piece of 2”x 6” or 2”x8” works great.

I am in same boat as many readers..rural hwy..many road salts in our extreme winters but my box is over a metal culvert. I read the commentary and really appreciate the way you predicted our questions in the video. Some of the comments were really helpful too. I have to buy a new mail box and state roads was like just get a post and a cheap mailbox because if we hit it in the winter we are only putting up a cheap post and box...fine. But I have no post hole digger and a 4x4 is hard to drive . So I may try this and see if I have enough clearance to run that metal spike. I doubt it but your video has been the clearest Thanks for that.

Put painter blue tape to protect anything that will be scuffed or damaged to protect it. Please just show doing it with everything you need. If a wedge or shim is used, we can get that if you show how.

Anyone using this kit. Forget it being sturdy. By the cedar kit. Same metal rod stake etc .i used my post hole digger made a hole pounded the stake in far enough that the post would be able to be pounded down a good 5to6 inches inside the hole so i could pour some concrete then added the other pieces once the post set.

I did this on my kitchen counters 2 1/2 years ago, and still love it. A couple of pointers I learned the hard way. Sanding and even scoring my laminate was not enough for the Henry's concrete to stay adhered to my big surface areas. Most of it plopped off the I had st chisel and scrape the rest off. I used A good bonding primer on the laminate, then put on a Second textured bonding primer as well (I used Maori Eco Prim Grip). This gave the concrete an excellent surface to adhere to, and I've had no lifting). After putting on 2 coats of Henry's I did a third, settle coat that was easy to trowel and smooth. After it dried I used a concrete stain. I ordered several small sample bottles from DirectColors. I used a piece of concrete board as a sample board and played around with colors and solutions til I got what I liked. I wish I had used the penetrating sealer firsr, as the low gloss sealer I used has been worn in places, and the concrete can get stained if its not resealed quickly. I taped off my sink, and did extra sealing around it. Overall I love it, and would do it again. Note for a kitchen counter you'll probably have to pull your stove and fridge out for a couple days, and use thick plastic or paper to protect your cabinets and floors. It gets messy!

That Mapei Prim Grip is really good for many uses. I rolled it on a tile floor, after scraping out the grout, and applied another primer and coated it with Richard's porch paint and seal Crete. The floor I did without the prim grip has chipped from little things falling on floor
