I got the exact Dave made 4 tuber....surprised me on 120v.smooth .....let me ask you what are you getting with low drive radio .and how much are these worth??I got 1500$ in mine and it's clean.....thanks...

Chris, I repaired this for a friend. But I'm very familiar with this amplifier. I would see 3k watts with 25 watts drive. Friend purchased for around $2,100.

That 50 pf capacitor you replaced and or installed is a real mystery as I have 3 varmint xl 1000 all different versions from the tall one to the CW and the regular and not a one of them has this cap in this location on the top or bottom as a matter a fact if I install one it cause the linear to not function at all ! I had gotten ahold of one in the past where someone apparently watched this video and installed one and wondered why it wasn't operating, I removed it and it worked like a champ 🤷♂️

Justin, appreciate your comment. I will tell you it is a guessing game most of the time with these sweep tube amps. Some have schematics and some don’t. When I removed the bottom panel that cap and the low pass filter circuit were smoked really bad. Without a schematic all I had to go on was experience and luck. If you have a schematic for that amp please share. I would like to know myself. Anyway, that portion of the amp is below the driver section. So I suspect the cap, because of its low value was part of the fixed driver tune. Also it looked to have been repaired before by someone else so it is possible and I think I remember that it may have been installed by the factory on the tube side of the circuit board but in this case it may have been repaired and installed on the bottom. Which is fine and probably a little easier now that the circuit board is mounted. I have a question for you. If someone added the cap and it didn’t work why wouldn’t they just remove it?

Those capacitors on the brass transformers are for preventing leakage reactance.

4 tubes. You need help with a transformer? I also got a custom one built at Heyboer. Worked beautifully. Just had to move the cap bank over 1” and drill two holes for the mounting screw.

@@baltimore_amp_repair got a question brother,do you work on any radios or just amps? I picked up a 93t cheap enough locally a couple months back and the other night I stepped on pedal for my “elevation extender” and stepped on the pedal for my d104 and the 93t wouldn’t key.
