If you are truly a fan of music, you will appreciate how fantastic this performance is. IMO not since being with The Police has Sting had a band this good.. I only have four words.. Omar Hakim and Branford Marsalis.. Listen to the interaction of live drums and sax, these two musicians are playing off of each other. Sting is just background at this point and he lets them go, you will even see the bass player and Kenny Kirkland RIP on keys turn to watch and smile at how good this is and the typically reserved and polite French audience stand up and applaud what they hearing.

Amazing drummer! Love this song and the film Brimstone and treacle. Rest in peace to the late great Denholm Elliott.🙏🙏🙏

Had the extreme pleasure of driving PH around to gigs in Detroit in the late sixties and would like to thank whoever put this fine video together with one of the most moving songs that The Harum ever produced. Stunning work. Gary will be proud of your work.

First time I saw this performance I was at a party in the mid 90's and I didn't no who the heck Omar Hakim was at the time. I knew who Sting, Bradford and King Kenny were but after that performance I found out. I was early 20's and I said to myself, "he absolutely ripped it in a crescendo of controlled rage!"

Three different segments, with three different tempos, in this song. I am not a musician, but this piece is quite exceptional, IMO.

Two different shows. This version was not recorded for the Bring on the Night live double album. It’s on the b side of the Russians single.

This is really unbelievable now that back there in mid 80s the rock star Sting gathered thousands of people in the biggest stadiums in the world where the super-heroe jazz band showed off with almost regular jazz. It gave rock music an unprecedented value. Brandford solo is really exceptional!

Spiritual sensuality and BURNING DESIRE this song-every version! The Last Exit version is beautiful Sting sounds like he's a chior boy singing a naughty song. This version takes me to the motherland like The Police version but this one is orgasmic!! Explosive! Omar Hakim, Brandford...ALL OF THEM are amazing!!! LOVE Sting.

Lyrics All hands on deck, we've run a float, I heard the Captain cry. Explore the ship, replace the cook, Let no one leave alive. Across the straits, around the horn, How far can sailors fly? A twisted path, our tortured course, And no one left alive. We sailed for parts unknown to man, Where ships come home to die. No lofty peak, nor fortress bold, Could match our captain's eye. Upon the seventh seasick day, We made our port of call. A sand so white, and sea so blue, No mortal place at all. We fired the guns, and burned the mast, And rowed from ship to shore. The captain cried, we sailors wept, Our tears were tears of joy! Now many moons and many Junes, Have passed since we made land. A Salty Dog, the seaman's log, Your witness, my own hand. Songwriters: Gary Brooker / Keith Reid
