We worked on a similar sequence but using a modified Segno for Spada a due mani.

We were just talking about this tonight at practice. The importance of using the back hand to control the point of the partisan! Great video guys!

It would be nice to have subtitles as he touch each guard and maybe an illustration from the source on each.

Very smooth! What a cool set of techniques to have mastered. Also, excellent use of the banner to hide the camera's reflection! Very clever!

Just a thought as a native speaker: in Italian, especially XV cent. one, "levata" does not always translate to "elevated". In this case, it would probably be "taken away/retracted". Cheers!

Thanks for dropping this Gem. Been a fan of Terry O’Neil since my dad used to watch the Guvnor. But I didn’t know all this info. I’m a karate guy from born in the 70’s so this is so cool to listen to.

Very elegant movements. The first cut when you draw the sword should be a falso tondo riverso, not a dritto tondo riverso though.
@KenHardingswordplay
@KenHardingswordplay Жыл бұрын
Thank you. The English translation we are working from, by Jherek Swanger, says: "extend your arm and perform a falso and a riverso squalembro, *OR* do two riversi, the first one tondo and the second one squalembro" (I perform the second option). Are you saying that this is not translated correctly?

Ken, thanks to your videos, we practice 94-100 for nearly every class. It's great to see this continue to evolve. We are enjoying exploring spada solo as well. Kind regards and many thanks!

That first bout/two exchanges were excellent, and the disarm was quite amusing. I am looking to get into this type of sword myself, though am finding relatively few sources on it. In particular, I am surprised to see almost total homogeneity in having globular pommels with the occasional scent-stopper. Having practiced with them a decent bit now, do you think this is for functional reasons? Why might other pommels-eg wheel, fishtail-be or not be used on this type of sword?

Where does the "walking in guards" sequence come from (in terms of source material)?
