If space is straight up, why do they arch and cruise at the altitude of a plane?
@ZizakChitak3 күн бұрын
If you go straight up, you come straight back down. Orbit is kinda complicated to understand, but the goal is to be above the atmosphere but also moving sideways so the direction you're falling won't hit earth. That means you need to be moving sideways way faster than up.

Where do the rockets land?
@kiverix11 күн бұрын
The space shuttle had two main landing sites: the Shuttle Landing Facility, and and Edward's Air Force Base. There were also options in case of a mission abort (Trans Atlantic Landing) or if weather was too harsh (Example: STS 3 landed somewhere else)
@toronto416.11 күн бұрын
@kiverix the parts that detached how are those controlled? Or do they just land anywhere
@kiverix11 күн бұрын
@@toronto416. so the two boosters flanking the orange tank were recovered since they used parachutes, whilst the orange tank itself burnt up in the atmosphere when it was empty. Where they landed could be determined via gps

If you play Dire Straits - Money For Nothing (long intro version) at the same time of starting the video, the launch syncs perfectly with the first guitar riff. It's pretty epic, enjoy ;)

Thank you for the lack of distracting music. Too many seem to think that putting some random song over the content makes things more interesting. As a blind person, music is the last thing I want if I'm watching a spaceship launch or sports highlights or ... anything that's got sound. If it doesn't have sound, I'm not watching because there's literally nothing for me to see. If I want music, I'll hit the music tab.
