The historic and magnificent Royal Palace (the Scholss) was dynamited by their socialist fellows in 1950, to build a communist non-entity, the Palace of the (Communist) Republlic. So now, here they are having a "broom festivals", still trying to find meaning for their meaningless, pointless lives...

prima. aber bitte nicht 'feed', sondern 'meter'verwenden. auch global sind sich laegst die meisten einig (gibt auch massig videos darueber), dass die masseinheiten, die noch in den USA und wenig anderen laendern verwendet wird, voellig ueberholt ist und endlich jeder zum metrischen system (wie 97% des planeten) wechseln sollten. die amis versuchten das auch in der vergangenheit ab und an (bzw. das metrische system ist eh eigentlich die basis), aber die gewohnheiten machen es natuerlich schwer. so oder so, niemand sollte mehr 'feed/meilen' oder so verwenden. bessere englishsprachige videos (andere und wissenschaftliche eh) verwenden laegst das metrische system oder zumindest beides - auch die meisten informierten us youtuber ...

After the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the unification of Germany, the eastern half of Berlin and Germany has become more beautiful, but more beautiful than the freedom of the people.

Obviously the modern facade, as well as the soulless, inhuman stone plaza (in place of the original garden park) on the other side of the building are intended to sabotage the project. Still too many unrepentant communists in power. On the bright side however, because of the sparseness, featureless design of the modern facade, it can serve as a skeletal frame, on which to clad the classical design in the future, when the political winds shift again. It you look back at the reconstruction process, you will notice that the other three exterior walls looked much like this featureless wall as well, unto the bare, cement structure was painstakingly clad in the classical facade we see today. Also the inhuman stone plaza too, this is a relatively simple fix, to remove most of the stones and plant some trees there, make a nice garden again. In this regard, I see the palace as 3/4 finished. That’s way more than halfway there…

It’s such a shame a small click of people against the reconstruction of the palace were allowed to sabotage the project by putting that ugly cement wall on the side facing the river. It looks like something Albert Speer would design. And as if that was not bad enough, they put this soulless, stone slab on the other side, rather than restore the beautiful garden. Still too many disgruntled communists in the government…

This seems to rival Göring’s Air Ministry…has the same sort of sinister look and feel. The man would be proud!!….it would have been far better executed if the buildings were sunk a little and hidden behind more traditional Berlin street facades and greenery to try and hide its monolithic bulk. It looks rather bare, foreboding and stark and reminiscent of another time altogether, not really in keeping with the modern Federal Republic. Anyway, it’s there now. Those tall palms look rather odd in that setting too. Grüss aus Australien!!

Unfortunately, a full reconstruction was not possible due to ideological reasons. The left-leaning German elites would never accept it - they hate German culture, heritage and history, and therefore will always ensure that a modernist architect destroys the beauty of historical buildings and takes away their dignity.

Overall a good looking and well-functioning concept. Just a couple of details need to get improved over time like e.g. the concrete balustrade outside the East Wing towards the waterfront. This should be changed to an e.g. light and modern plexiglass balustrade, so that you can see the water and tourist ships on the Spreekanal while sitting on the windows of the Humboldt Cafe. 😉
