Well, this is really playing Chopin. I would appreciate very much if someone can give me advice on which edition of Music Sheets I should buy (for Chopin's Mazurka)!
@PatriaProductions4 ай бұрын
There are two editions that are always good to buy: the Paderewski edition and the Henle edition. Comparing the two, the Paderewski shows more fingering. The Henle binding is more sturdy and will last a long time. The Paderewski is very useful if you are learning new mazurkas. However, fingering should be used as suggestions only. You don't need to follow exactly the fingering if something is not comfortable.

I keep coming back , returning again and again to this video for the wonderful phrasing and interpretation of this waltz. First, when I started learning it, and now that I’m perfecting it. Especially love the staccato in the second turn of the 3rd movement (bars 97-104). Thanks for the inspiration!
@PatriaProductions7 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for your comment! Your observation is correct, that second turn contains staccato. I believe repeats should be played differently. Very happy that you are putting finishing touches on your own performance of this wonderful waltz. Actually, it's not that often performed but audiences love it. It is always a success when I perform it. And it will be successful for you too. My best wishes, Marjan

very thankful for your explanations. I just struggle with the speed and I wish the piece was more relaxed and not so much in a rush
@PatriaProductions8 ай бұрын
Thanks and happy my explanations were useful. I did cover tempo possibilities in my narrative from 8:00 minutes to 10:00. I took the pace that is right for me. But I also offered suggestions on different tempi which are fully acceptable when performing this piece. I even encouraged playing it slower and gave examples. I would recommend recording yourself on an iPhone or other device to see where you want to be in your own performances. And happy to answer any other questions you may have.

Hi there im sorry to say but did you needed to catch a bus r train? Its so fast? And again sorry, but the romantic story behind this Prelude is ( sadly) false. This Prelude is not even witten in Mallorca
@PatriaProductions8 ай бұрын
Thank you for reaching out. I did not say Chopin “composed” the Raindrop prelude in Mallorca. I said Chopin traveled to Mallorca and was “working” on this prelude. The story of Chopin imagining hearing the monks chanting, was right out of George Sand’s personal diary. The question of tempo is extensively covered in my narrative from 8:00 minutes to 10:00. I stressed that I was offering merely “suggestions” as to different tempi which are fully possible when performing this piece. I even encouraged playing it slower for those who wish to do so, and gave examples. And, that “Sostenuto” is an indication of slower but not necessarily “slow”. The pace I took was right for me. For others it might be different - and that is totally fine. Thanks for tuning in and happy to answer any other questions you may have.

@@PatriaProductions Hello🤗 Thank you for your reply ( you are correct about Chopin hearing the monks chanting indeed George Sand wrote that herself. And i wanna say sorry for my negative comment ( i should not said that, im really sorry for that sir ) the fact you give this reply on my comment says everything about you ) so again im really sorry for my behavior i really respect you. I wish you the best and a good day 🤗 greetz Jessica

Chopins Mazurkas were sooOo ahead of their time when he composed them. He was basically playing around with atonality almost 100 years before Schoenberg started doing his thing!! Imo, no one, absolutely nobody, knew more about what the piano was capable of and how to bring out the best sound from the instrument as well as having the most efficient & relaxed technique to play the piano. If only he could've been around for another 15yrs or so...
@PatriaProductions9 ай бұрын
I quite agree with your observations. Chopin was a trend setter from which all composer-pianists who came after Chopin were influenced by him. Thanks for tuning in. Marjan Kiepura

I have just started learning this song, is there like any big things i should be aware of when i start learning?
@PatriaProductions9 ай бұрын
This mazurka is very famous and a great piece to learn and perform. So I encourage you to proceed. The most important thing is to capture the spirit of the mazurka rhythm so that it really stands out. The biggest technical challenge is the arpeggio in bar 7 and the skip in bar 8 which is repeated throughout the piece. Try practicing that section by playing each note twice to smooth out that passage. As you continue to learn and improve, record yourself to see how you are progressing. If you have other questions, I would be happy to answer them. Best wishes, Marjan

The best performance of this Chopin Prelude I've heard. In other performances, the repeated right-hand notes are either too heavy or imbalanced with the left hand. Granted, it's a difficult balance to strike, but Mr. Kiepura did an outstanding job. This is a keeper.

Inmenso artista, simpático y carismático showman y dueño de un vocalismo superlativo. Sin ninguna duda le marcó el camino a los tenores que intentaron triunfar en la pantalla.
