Man was a proper star. Thanks for the round up of his career. I have used that "Wake up,time to die" line so many time, his adding that line showed he knew who/what the character really was.

My God!! You're saying he passed at 54 years old, but he looked 20 years older in his last roles...

When you look again and really see how perfect Van damme kicked his spinning hook kick, straight high kick, of course jumping 360 kicks are all perfect the man is great.

Thanks for the great biography! He's one of those great "It's That Guy!" actors, the guys that show up as a nameless minion in so many different movies you just say "Hey, it's that guy!" when you see them in a movie. They just call them character actors, but somebody has to take those roles.

It's funny that other people on the set of Cobra were giving him guff. Brian was hands down the most memorable part of that movie.

Taken too soon, he was a year younger than me! One of my favourite roles other than Bladerunner was in the (i think) twilight zone reboot episode called Daddy/Mummy about an actor still trapped in his film makeup as an Egyptian mummy trying to make it to the hospital where his wife has just given birth to their first child. Brion plays plays a drunken gun-toting bayou redneck that thinks the actor is areal mummy. Much hilarity ensues. It’s been decades since I watched this episode but I still remember his scenes. So well done making this wideo 😜 I now know there are others out there that enjoyed Brian’s work as much as I did..

WTF?? Is it "Bry-on" or "Bree-on"? Gotta make up your mind, post-walla! Oh, FFS! "... Back in the Golden Days, when movies were made right!" Then proceeds to show below-grade anime for half of the next segment... Cuz, WHO NEEDS GOLDEN DAYS CINEMA???

5:31 ouch, seems a bit to much to have a black character gunned down by a white “cop”. And a black character that was technically a slave. I think they made a good choice to go in a different direction with that. 13:54 MAJOR ICEBORG!! I actually loved her, never said a thing and was whole lotta woman! Not sure if was same actress in that James Bond movie that played the thick Russian lady in coveralls distracting a Russian maintenance oil line monitor guy. I try and find it. (Living daylights?)(kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3Lde2iVbaikmsUsi=HSx59Cv5IipxjGjd) is living daylights; koscov’s escape.

In the Philippines, it was called " I come in peace", NOT "Dark Angel" . Even when the VHS came out (for the Asian region). He stole the movie from Dolph.

True story: brion James was dead last on the list for his role on blade runner. He actually pulled up in his Harley at the studio, unwashed and scared the casting director so bad, the CD ran to another room. Ridley cast him asap.

The big difference between John Wayne and Gene Hackman, and they had many arguments with each other: Marion Morrison played "John Wayne" and was not John Wayne and could not act. Gene Hackman: Played whatever role he was in, and could act. Hollywood can not function without ACTUAL actors. Being a headliner doesn't mean acting ability. It just means popularity.

A very nice tribute. My favorite appearance by Brion James is that of the sinister pest exterminator in CRIMEWAVE (Sam Raimi, 1985), along with another great (not only in size), Paul Smith. There Brion also shows a great comic talent.

Thanks for calling him out. An underrated actor in everything from Blade Runner to Southern Comfort (the one-armed Creole gentleman) to The Fifth Element. Also, tremendously photograph of Harrison Ford and his British "Indie" stunt double, Vic Armstrong. There was an exceptional write up about this some years ago in The Telegraph.

Mr. James was the ultimate Co-Star/villain in every movie I watched during my childhood! He was my hero in a way, as I always found myself cheering for the bad guys. The thrill of it all reached its peak when I saw "Dark Angel" - it was an unforgettable masterpiece from the mid-'80s! That film was nothing short of incredible, lighting up my imagination and leaving me exhilarated!

The Iceman in 48 hours and Another 48 hours was absolutely amazing. I think henis 1 of the most overlooked actors from the 80s and 90s but every role he played he made unique to him and that made every appearance special and unforgettable. We are so lucky to have been able to see him in all his glory on the big and small screen. I truly believe there should be an award for supporting actors and actresses that are unforgettable just as he was in BladeRunner. Supporting roles that steal the show. Rip

Brion James brother, Chet James, was my high school science teacher and also a coach (basketball, I think). Of course, we all knew Brion was an actor, of course. We all freaked the f out when he played the bad guy in Blade Runner. Anyway, great actor. And, hi, coach James, wherever you are!!! You were a great teacher that made a positive impact on all us kids at Prairiland High back in the early eighties. Probably hundreds and hundreds of other kids too over the years too. You should be extremely proud of what you have accomplished!

James had the idea that when Deckard found the scale in the tub, Leon would be wedged up in a corner over the door. "Scary as crap". Edward James Olmos later used that as Lt. Castillo in an episode of Miami Vice.
