😎 cool lesson. Knowing triad shapes and positions are so instrumental in knowing where to grab "mini chords" up and down the neck. The trick is hitting only 3 strings and skipping or muting the adjacent ones. Practicing exercises like this are so valuable. Thanks for making us better guitar players Dom.

Is G only the 5th when playing a C? Is it a relation thing or will G be the 5th if you start on the A as well?
@domsguitarКүн бұрын
It’s only the 5 of C. To find the 5th count up 5 letters. But the distance from 1-5 has to be 2.5 whole steps. Thanks for listening and commenting.

Excellent follow up video!! Thanks. So, am I correct in assuming that 6 string and 4 string triads / inversions are always major(s) and 5 string and 3 string are always minors - or is that just how it looked in that key (in this video). Also, are you skipping the octave "f" in that triad / chord as you are only playing three strings? Or are you using your index to press it, too, but it just looks like your fretting only the "C" on string 2? Any chance of the tab for the right hand (finger picking) on the earlier video like you did this. You briefly touched on it when you said we can hit the triad / arpeggio in any order that sounds good to us, but yours sounded beautiful and I'm just not quite getting it to sound the same. I'm not sure if it's the wrong string or my timing (rhythm) is off. Lol (probably both) Thanks again!!
@domsguitarКүн бұрын
I’m a bit lost with the beginning of your questions. These triads are all in root position. The major triads have the root on the D string (str. 4). The minor triads have the roots on the G string (str 3). These triads are the exact ones in the earlier video. I will post the tabs for you soon. Thanks for listening!

Ok! This was better to view than the longer one. If you can't do a tab version of the longer (other vid), can you do a similar one to this for the finger picking section of the longer vid, but with the closer view of the right (picking) hand. Thanks!

Any chance of you adding the basic tab pattern for the thumb and fingers? Your fingers are not distinct enough for me to tell which strings you're hitting and my ear isn't sharp enough to discern the notes. Playing the vid at a slower speed doesn't help as it makes both less discernable. Thanks! Great video!

You just play to each chord, don't think keys, just think chords. They are all 9 chords, and it is basically a line cliché. In the most basic form, learn a 9 chord arpeggio shape and move it up and down with the chords.
@domsguitar4 күн бұрын
That is a great idea! It might be a bit hard to do. Another option is to just outline the tone center!

Thats a cool trick old man ill surely implement but in the end you need to phrase your tones good with backing harmony as in your case it wasnt sounding good on some parts in the end of the video. But its a good technique learned something new today.

Very Cool, Thankyou. Awesome as always. Plenty for me to work on. Love this guitar, look and sound stunning. I have fallen real hard for the Fender Player II in Haileah Yellow, Maple Board .... For Some Reason .....Oh My...... I Have a couple of Outstanding Strat Copies but REALLY am fighting getting the Haileah Yellow .... Maybe I should think about The Jaguar or other models offered in that color in The Player II series, lol. All the Best. Cheers

But I am working on a series right now and I will explain how to do the exercises thoroughly and then do the seven minute workout with them after I’m done it’s a four part series.
