Great video guys, I love this place and visited about 10 years ago,there was a lady dressed as Anne Boleyn in the entrance hall who welcomed the visitors, super place to visit, keep these videos coming.

I attended the Welkin prep school from 1958 - 1960. As I lived in Cuckfield, a few miles away, I had to take two buses (change at Haywards Heath bus station) to Lindfield, picking up other pupils on the way. The bus stopped at the foot of the village, near the pond, so the walk up the high street was a daily occurrence to enter the stone gates almost opposite All Saints Church. This lovely video of yours brought back so many memories of that wonderful school with the grounds that any boy would love! Mr Cook and his staff were generally decent and Mrs Cook was in charge of the kitchen who served really good food - the only school meals I've ever had that were eaten in total silence and respect! In my 70s now and last visited the area in about 2015 to see if it had changed - it hadn't. Thank you so much for this - lots of memories.

For the uneducated on Cornish pasties you 'DONT' put carrot in them...its a hung- drawn- quartered offence in Cornwall...totally ruined the video as I cannot unsee what I saw...😤😤😡😡

Jam goes on scone first so the cream won't soak into pastry. ❤my opinion. UK
@theperambulatorsАй бұрын
That’s a good point. Although we have found that with clotted cream and jam, the jam is a lot runnier. Having the jam first makes it quite hard to spread the cream. Thank you for watching ❤️

Nice video and I know we have a limited selection of music to choose from on YT. Ignore the tacky comments by others. We enjoyed the video, nice photography.

Thank you very much for the support ❤️ yeah if only we could use copyrighted music then the video would have been better. Unfortunately we can't use copyrighted music.

That non-stop 'beat' in the so-called music is just horrible! I simply had to turn it off, but also missed any commentaries being given. PLEASE change the music to something more appropriate for this Great Man and his gifts to us Brits, and to the World!! Thank you!
@theperambulatorsАй бұрын
We wanted to put World War II style music in but it was copyrighted. We had to change it out. We won’t be changing it though as people have been watching the video and it’s helped us a lot. Thank you for watching

Clementine Churchill was right, Chartwell is an incredibly ugly house of very little merit.
@theperambulatorsАй бұрын
It is an odd house, the real beauty is the views of the surrounding countryside and gardens.
@peterrobey1654Ай бұрын
The surrounding landscape is stunning and I'm sure that's why he wanted that location less than an hour from Westminster at that time. I'm so glad the NT has preserved the house as its history is probably more important than most other NT properties.

Black Swans were given to Winston as a gift after WW2 by the Australian government, on behalf of the Australian people, for recognition of his service during the war, hence you see them at Chartwell. Black Swans are only native to Australia. I visited here in 2012, and couldn’t get over the fact that I was walking where Winston had walked, and talked to the great people of history. A very surreal experience.

Amazing! We didn’t find that out in our research. There were signs saying to not approach them, it would have been nice to get a video clip of them. Thanks for watching ❤️

Apparently there is / may be a Ginger cat - that was part of the deal when he sold it, that Chartwell should always have a resident ginger cat! I'd have also loved to see inside his bedroom apparently he had a chair disguised with an inch thick metal back - that could have been used as a shield / if there was ever an emergency to avoid bullets! Very interesting vid thanks!
@theperambulatorsАй бұрын
That is absolutely true yes! Unfortunately we didn’t see Jock VI. It was horrible weather, so he was probably hiding somewhere and sleeping. www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/kent/chartwell/jock-the-cat-at-chartwell Not sure why we couldn’t see into his bedroom. We think it is because you would have to walk through his study to get there. Thank you for watching ❤️

They are from Sir Winston Churchill’s House. They tasted pretty good. Although the ones we had in Cornwall were much better. 😅
@JtotheMeezyАй бұрын
Cornish boy here. It's supposed to be jam first, but I do cream first because it's easier to spread jam on cream. Also if I catch you using raisin scones for cream teas again, I'm gonna take your hands.
