My uncle got me into this recently from PCSX2 and Vimm's Lair. The camera is awful but this game has so many unique features and combos that coming at it from Dark Souls makes me feel right at home.

I wonder why the developers didn't just give him a custom build with invincibility and infinite lives so he could breeze through the levels, it would have really helped him out.

His music is great and all, the OST in the game is an absolute banger. But it does get quite repetitive. He basically took the title melody and remixed it for every world and level, sometimes it's not too obvious and he builds on it with lots of original progressions and new riffs, but at the core of every track it's always the same song. It's the same approach that Super Mario World did, that game had only maybe three completely original themes at most, the rest are just remixes. I get that his workload was immense and he had to create an amount of music comparable to four albums just for one game, but Grant Kirkhope made arguably even more tracks for Banjo-Kazooie released only two months before Spyro and at least half of them were fully original, AND he had to contend with the limited range of N64's sound chip as well as extreme compression required to fit the music on low capacity cartridges. I do like that Stewart's Spyro music has that professional quality to it that no other platformer had at the time, or maybe even since. You can really tell the composer's skills are on Hollywood's level of greatness! But I find that Spyro's OST, while very fitting and pleasant to listen to, is not the kind of music that you can hum to your friend and he'd instantly recognize the specific level or world it's from, it's just not that memorable on the whole.

This game came out during my older brothers generation. I was always too young to be able to beat the game so I would just watch my brother play the game all the time. My brother committed suicide in 2017 and now this game and soundtrack is one of my core memories of my brother.
