Thanks a bunch for the overview. What are some of the bests lessons learned from doing adventure island camping? I am planning a 1,000 mile expedition in an AI next year and learning everything I can.

Great review! It gave me a good idea of the functions, the different mounts, and the video quality in different conditions. Exactly the information I was looking for! Thanks!! :D

id love to go to snake island.. i was wondering how far the crossing is and how long did your crossing take. I gather you left from Port Welshpool. thanks
@TheFishinMusician8 жыл бұрын
hi mate, the trip down to the south west corner of snake island is about 13k. takes us 2-3 hours usually if we dont stuff around too much. often we'll hang out & fish at various points if theyre biting.

Have you thought about a bow flotation bag like the ones used for sea kayaks? Load it up way in the front of the bow then add your camping stuff. Will try it myself and let you know how it worked for me. I too, am not a small fellow so my kayaks have a tendency to ride a little lower in the water. hence me getting a TI for sailing and camping!

A new tandem Adventure Island is about $6300.00. Then add trampoline etc.and your up a few hundred more. Kind of high. Can buy a small sail boat for what these things are going for! I got and old demo. It was a few years old when I got it. Mine is a single. Was about 2000 bucks then. They have made quite a few improvements over the years. The new seats are 100% better than the old ones. New rudder much better. They are a little higher in the water. Helps keep the people dryer. The seat helps in that too. They are a blast to sail. Even fun in ruff seas.

just wondering if if i was heading to this lake , what lures to try or are soft plastics better and more economical , also line (lb) and technique , casting to snags or trolling. or is bait fishing better and if bait fishing what tackle and rig to use. thanks Brian

Hi mate, 2 general ways to fish bluerock, trolling tassie devils or trout pattern hardbodies out in the open aeras, or casting to the snags. Spinner blades are good for the bas in there but they'll also jump on a small hb just as happily. Think sx40 size. Gear wise, the lighter the better = more fun. Good luck

Thanks for posting. Sounds like we both like doing the same sort of stuff. It’s good to compare yours and my setups. You’re right, the more times you do it, the less you take. But it’s funny cause even though you take less, why is it that you’re always scratching for spare room at launch time. Or is it just me. I’ll subscribe to your page and check out some more of your stuff. Please do the same with mine and we can compare notes. Cheers

Nice run through! New Hobie TI owner here. Have you done many trips lately? I have one overnighter under my belt that I did the first day I bought the boat, I have a wonderful time but I definitely learned some things and realized some things that would be nice to have, a deck bag being one if them. I also like what you mentioned about the bag glued under the Hobie tackle box. I haven't seen that before, happen to have any photos?
@TheFishinMusician10 жыл бұрын
Thanks SailingandSuch, Just spent the last weekend on our local lake, a lot of the time in the rain :) deck bags are good, but i still keep the contents in individual dry bags incase of leakage (which has happened) Re: the bag/box, glued under the hobie box, it didnt really work out so ive ditched the idea, i now have my first aid/repair stuff in the hobie dry bag,stowed in the hull under the seat via the center hatch. ive also changed my tackle boxes to the deep hobie ones with no partitions which is working much better for fitting larger items in. hope that helps

Hey TimberwolvesXX, you'd still have to cross the Welshpool Chanel & the little snake island Chanel. About 400m & 100m respectively and both too deep to walk it. They do still swim horses across on extreme low tides.

i used it in the ocean for film surfing, but everytime it fogged up after about 30 minutes. it stayed water proofed, but i could not continue filming, not sure why. probably take it back to Kmart for a refund and get a real underwater camera.

Good question donger805 & the answer is I don't actually know at the moment! I'll weigh my camping load when I next head out & try & give you an accurate answer. As far as sailing it goes its not that bad really unless going downwind, then it'l submarine a little. Otherwise it just feels a bit sluggish when loaded that much.
