I actually think Kodak Black got it wrong, but Kendrick didn't correct him. I think Oklama's supposed to sound like Obama.

Just found your channel, and I must say I am very impressed with the amount effort you are putting into not only trying to understand the album and subject matter, but also the presentation. The editing is amazing and your commentary on top kept me hooked thru the whole video. If i can make a recommendation, I do not see you have reacted to section 80. Section 80 is Kendricks debut studio album, and in my opinion, Kendricks first classic album. I was in college when this dropped and the way it had a grip on me and my friends, we knew Kendrick was someone to keep an eye out for.

I’d recommend Beloved Paradise Jazz if you liked this album. It’s similar length and has a similar vibe in my opinion

I usually get touched when listening to this album (and other music), yet rarely moved to tears. But for some reason your reaction to and hearing the transition between Swimming Pools and Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst just made me bawl. Thank you, Path, for this reaction and your sincerity.

I had the same reaction to Fancy Clown. It was a dead ringer callback to the jagged soul samples in the first wave of sample-based experimentation in the early '90s. I was a child then and a young adult when MV was released. So it hit hard.

Just found this, very refreshing to hear the perspective someone who wasn't familiar with him. Father time and Aunty diaries were pretty big talking points within my friend circles as we're predominantly african with heavy christian and muslim backgrounds. It allowed for good discussions around uncomfortable topics. Unfortunately the perspective faded a bit since but this video reminded me that those conversations are possible when accompanied with the right medium :)

another interesting detail of the dynamic of u and i is that i was a single, but he changed it slightly for the album. the main difference is that on the album version of i is actually a performance of the single version. it may be a reach, but the setting of each song adds so much to the duality, with one being a broken shattered man's frantic screams in his bathroom and the other being an electric superstar's performance, but at the end of the day, that superstar and broken man can one in the same

Not saying you should react on camera or anything, but you should check out Keisha's Song from the album before this one. It takes place before this one, and the first verse on Sing About Me is from the perspective of the sister of the girl from Keisha's Song

I believe that on the track “the crown” when he talks about the new car, I don’t think it’s meant to be a “materialistic gain remaining unsatisfying” thing, I think he’s drawing comparisons between himself and that new car, saying he understands why he can’t please everybody because “love can change with the seasons” and that he understands that because people are always looking for what’s new to replace what’s old, he’ll never be able to please everyone.
