Paid 300 used for an older snowbear. Stock winch motor was replaced but was screaming loud. Took it apart and greased the outer shaft bushing and it runs quite now.. Had s10 blazer mounts that i retro fitted to my 94 ranger with a front hitch. Used large angle bolted it to reciever side mount plate .. Ranger is on a 6 in lift with 33's with a front powertrax locker 4.56 gears 3.0 and Mt... Entire plow hardly sinks the front end when blade is picked up. Will be first year using it. I take care of a small apartment complex and my driveway. Maybe a few others for cash.

A couple years ago I bought a 1999 Ford Ranger that came with a plow like that. Not sure it's the exact same model. It's pretty beaten up but does the trick for my long rough driveway here in south central British Columbia. The problem I'm having with mine is that it is very low while I drive on roads where I do not want to be plowing. When I go down a steep exit from a few parking lots in town, my plow scrapes the road, even when I've got it winched up as high as it will go and then chained to take the load off the winch. I'm trying to figure out what else it's supposed to have for getting it up higher and keeping it that way for driving. The people from whom I bought it have moved away and I've lost touch with them so I can't ask them what they used to do. So, I've been looking on KZbin to get ideas and I stumbled across your video. Thanks for making this. Good to see what these plows look like when they're new and it's interesting reading the comments.

I thought I'd give some feedback on mine I bought a year ago. I have 2003 Dodge Dakota extended cab 4x4 with 4.7 V8. I've owned it for year and it only has 100,000kms. Frame is mint and its been babied all its life except for my hunting trips. I ordered the Dakota kit for it and this exact plow. I was concerned I was too light as I have 1800 feet of gravel driveway. I've used my TYM 293 tractor for years with front blower and back blade. That thing is a beast. Heated cab etc. It'll take on any storm no problem. But I wanted something to do the quick hits with 6 inches or less for speed. I had 300lbs of salt bags centered over the back wheels and that made a HUGE Difference in steerability. Do it. I put a set of Timbrens on the front and that was huge!! The plow never affected the front height at all. I had to re-do the front end this spring but it's a 20 year old truck that needed it anyway. So next year it'll be fully ready. I have to say this thing worked perfectly except for the markers. Pure crap. I'll figure out something for those this summer. I didn't use the shoes as I don't use anything with my tractors either so I just went to ground. In 4x4 I used 2nd gear and simply drove to push snow I never went above 20kph - didn;t need to except for one slight hill I have to climb. These things work superbly if you accept what they are. I see alot of guys beat the living crap of these blades then complain. STOP! They are homesteader blades. Nothing more. 1800 feet of driveway 12 storms - never turned the tractor on once and had 4 storms of 2 feet or more. NO problem as I plowed with the storm going out in the middle of them and keeping it under a foot. For you property these things work great. I would have two things as spares though. The wireless control wiring kit and a an extra pulley motor. I see these as the most breakable on these plows. All in all they are steal imho when full plows in my area are 10K plus installed.

I’ve plowed with some high dollar western and boss plows on 3/4 ton trucks. The biggest problem is see with this plow is the ability to push snow up into hills and to angle the blade and with speed throw snow off the side on long driveways. It does look great for personal use just wonder how narrow a longer drive would get by the end of winter. I do really like the idea of being able to remove everything including the front receiver hitch in an hour are so
@RyanRKJ2 жыл бұрын
You can angle the blade, it’s just manual. The narrow part of my driveway drops off on the sides, so I have had no issues with narrowing. I’ve got some piles taller than expected, but certainly, a more full featured hydraulic plow would be better suited if you are wanted by to make tall piles.

@RyanRKJ2 жыл бұрын
I’m in Elgin Ontario, Canada. I have used the plow for two seasons. In that time, the biggest snowfall we had was about 14-16”, and it was not very wet, so it pushed easily. I really have not had to deal with pushing a lot of really heavy, wet snow yet.

@RyanRKJ3 жыл бұрын
I have not had to replace the winch strap, but I’m pretty sure it can be done with basic hand tools.
@noahsmadda88282 жыл бұрын
I have the same plow. There is a metal bar that the winch strap loops through and there is a set screw which can be undone so the bar will slide out from the winch. My bar was slightly bent from the winch pulling the strap so I had to pry it back somewhat straight in order to slide the metal bar out. It was a pain trying to get the bend out of the bar but one it's out, the bar will slide out so you can loop a new strap through.

That's so useless, I'll use my shovel J/k nice set up, I'm looking for this kit for my ram 1500 classic, how easy is it to hook up and remove?
@RyanRKJ3 жыл бұрын
Installation and removal is very easy. The plow blade has flip down wheels, that allow you to roll it on a garage floor, as well as an adjustable rest near the mounting side, so you don’t have to struggle too much to line it up. The attachment is made with two simple clips, that are held in place by a pin each. Plug in the electrical connector, and you’re plowing. Removal is easy too. Sometimes you have to shift the plow just a bit to be able to remove the clips, but it’s rarely a struggle.
@PainterD543 жыл бұрын
I never agreed to the quality for such a high price for what you get with these kinds of plows. They're built too light to last if you do alot of serious plowing even just on your own property. If you do own one, you have to be careful with it and make sure you mark your hazzards before it snows, instead of banging into something while you're plowing because you WILL bend the blade. They are just not heavy duty enough. Look at the supports on the back and then go look at a regular full size plow made for pickups. Another good idea is make sure you use the skid shoes on them and set the blade at least an inch off the ground. Every time I see one of these plows on a truck, the sides are bent back because they are just not that strong. Be careful out there!
@RyanRKJ3 жыл бұрын
First, I don't agree that the price of this plow is high. It is much cheaper than "serious" plows, and I think the decrease in robustness is proportional to that price difference. I agree with your advice about being careful, marking hazards, and using the skid shoes. The trip springs on this plow are pretty light, so if I ever dig the plow into something, I can see the red markers angle forward, and I can decide to back off, instead of push through. I always take it slow, and have not damaged the plow yet. I'm not trying to convince anyone this plow is super robust, don't get me wrong. However, if you treat it like it IS fragile, it will certainly last longer.
@alcocklake3 жыл бұрын
my experience is different, I've been using one of these plows (84") for 12 years on my 99 Explorer XLT 4x4 (I plow in low range as its easier on the transmission and I plow a STEEP hill). My driveway is 1200 meters long and has 4 side roads and 2 parking areas, I've worn out two bottom wear blades and I don't use skids, after the gravel surface gets snow packed the blade scrapes better without them (I make the bolt on wear blade out of 6" wide x 3/8 cold rolled plate) and have never damaged the plow by hitting something. Don't get me wrong you can turn it (or a professional $5000 plow like a western) into a pretzel if you do clobber something but if you know your property and drive reasonably it'll be fine. I've only had to weld a small separation on a brace on the back of the plow once.... but I've used it a lot. When I finish my place I usually the neighbors (6 of them with smaller roads). fyi; I've worn out the original winch and replaced it with a cheap 2500 lb Princess Auto winch ($99). I bought the plow used for $600 12 years ago and love it. Just another opinion from NW Ontario Canada where we gets a LOT of snow and -30c.

This plow worked well for me all winter, and I remained happy with my choice. We did not have any massive or massively heavy snowfalls though. I plowed my driveway probably near a dozen times. The Rampage II comes with a vehicle specific mount. It does not use a 2” square receiver like some models do. After ordering through Costco, DK2 contacted me to discuss what vehicle I had so that they could send the correct mount.

Well well.. I wasn’t sure which plow to buy. Meyer offers one but the price tag is double and this half of the cost. Seems like only difference between the two is the one you can angle the plow manually and other one is electronic. I guess I’ll deal with the manual than electronic choice. This definitely helped me made my decision. Again.. I’m not doing any crazy plowing just home plowing.
