I went to work for a manufacturer in 1967 who made all the parts for their products. They had rows of similar machines turning long hex rods into screws, nuts, and bolts 24/7. Each machine was set up for a particular size and pitch part.

its actually not very heavy. it is cast aluminum edged with machined precision ground steel. we shipped this out to Busch to be reground after taking this video and with the wood crate it was only 162 lbs. I don't think the straight edge weighed over 100 lbs.

This machine is no longer here. The top roll position is controlled at the pedestal. If it sounds like the machine is turning on and you are pushing the button but it isn't moving, you may have the machine wired backwards

unfortunately the hold down bar will prevent you from getting the clearance required to effectively slice up your carrots.
