when you see the cadenza written on the paper you have to wonder, should I play to honour the whole concert, in the same manner, in the same spirit? Or should I play it to honour me, for me to stand out, detaching from the whole concert? and in that case, am I doing any good to the music? I think he is using Rachmanninoff to show off and he is adding nothing to the music, no matter his technique...

I wish Lang Lang were a bit more expressive at the piano. Not. 😳 What a clown - it is painful watching him grimace and mug at the keyboard. There is an hilarious clip on KZbin in which Vladimir Horowitz comments with regard to how he cannot demean himself to do this, immediately followed by a clip of Lang Lang carrying on as if he had an army of African army ants crawling up his legs.
