Thank God for our courageous men and women of the USCG! I have always been fascinated by the Coasties since childhood, now 55 years later I read and watch anything and everything about them. On my bucket lists is to go on one of their cutters to observe a mission. Thank you for your service and God bless you, United States Coast Guard..❤ Billy King Hastings Nebraska

Extraordinary video. The fact that you recorded it too? I have always been fond of meteorology and seeing the name of the book spiked my interest. I am very glad I read it. My heart goes out to you, and fellow coast guard members. I hope nothing this horrific ever happens again.

You're darn right she deserved some Quatro's! I don't know what you think, but it looks like it may have gotten a little more narrow since the last time I was there. That 90 degree turn is a horror show. Uphill, on damp slimy rocks while trying to make a right angle turn....it's not for the faint of heart. Or the broad of belly.

This was very interesting and well done. It deserves many more views than it has. I found it by following the link to Nevada Smith's KZbin site from the video "10 second ride up 70 foot wave". Initially I hadn't understood that Nevada Smith was the gentleman who took that video and that he was the Captain of the helicopter. That was explained by watching the KZbin video "A Storm Too Soon" which N Smith mentions in this video. It was a lecture given by the author of the book. It also is very good, it doesn't merely repeat the book, he explains other things including how he was helped to write it by the people involved. I would very much recommend watching it.
@greenman61413 жыл бұрын
If you go to the KZbin video titled: A Storm too Soon, there is a talk by the author of the book which is very interesting. There's also a longer clip of this same video (taken by the helicopter captain Nevada Smith) at the youtube video called: Rescue of Sean Seymour II crew. Watching the men come into the helicopter is something else, the expressions on their faces. All these gentlemen are just beyond imagining. I can't imagine being both this capable and brave.

LOL I couldn't even see the life raft watching it the first time, especially since watching it on you tube and it's mostly black and white. Distracted by the wipers, l was thinking they were calling the ship the life raft. And l'm thinking, 'this ain't a life raft! click bait! But then l read the comments and looked again. This is hard to imagine! I would 've had a heart attack just looking up at that monster!!! Roller coasters will be no big deal for these guys after this experience!!!!

Since it is very difficult to spot the raft, it would be helpful if you could circle it towards the beginning of the video so that people can find it readily.
