Was in Canada 15 years ago, Ottawa st mcarthurs street. Stayed for 3 years and it was my twilight. I know now that if I did go back it wouldn't be the same, it would be no different then america.

I remember every day I worked, This would come on the old 105.1 The Rock Station in Halifax. And everytime it did, it made the day feel just a little bit less slow.

Thank you, Wintersleep for this amazing song!! I played it three years ago, when my depression was worst. It was at Christmas Time, and I was so sad, that I played this, and my depression went away.

I don't think this is a negative message about the US in general at all. Not a Canadian musician out there that doesn't realize hating on the US is career suicide! The real problem is that the few loudmouth "Murika" haters here in Canada get all the attention and the millions of us who love the place and feel like we're at home when we visit aren't being recognized at all! That's Lie-beral controlled media for ya! A good percentage of us here in Canada actually have relatives there! My family spread out from Nova Scotia, Ontario, Alberta, California and Texas! Up to the mid 50's the border pretty well didn't exist and we could move freely back and forth between nations! The only difference between my relatives in the USofA and Canada is a bit of an accent difference between NS & Texas from the rest of the above, and my American relatives find it normal to wear their shoes in their houses and we don't! You really want to know how most Canucks like myself really feel? Listen to a little Tom MacDonald.. I recommend "In God We Trust". kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJq4mGiDrcdlhcU

This band is underrated as hell, I listen Wintersleep like 6 years, but their words still sounds as powerful as magically sounds music above them. Biggest greetings from Finland, this music is humane, gentle and strong, like men's hugs.

I'll never understand why this band isn't way bigger. Every album is solid, songs are deep, have feeling, musicianship is on point, they're unique. Should be massive, at least in Canada.

Yes you're right, America bad, Canada good. Americans don't enjoy nature. Americans don't have emotions. Only Canadians care about animals and waterfalls.

I don't think this is the message at all. I think it's more along the lines of 'When America sneezes, Canada catches the flu', or as one Canadian told me: "A lot of us are pretty smug about Americans voting for Trump, while we stay sane up here...really whatever happens down there ripples and hits us 10 fold." I think they are singing longingly for America (either the literal country that so many Canadians engage in an active economic and cultural exchange with or the romantic notion of 'America' such as that expressed by the poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson that is quoted in the chorus. Far from smugly lambasting the apparently regression in American politics, the singer is mourning the loss of a certain kind of idealism, enshrined in that same poem. America by Ralph Waldo Emerson Centre of equal daughters, equal sons, All, all alike endear’d, grown, ungrown, young or old, Strong, ample, fair, enduring, capable, rich, Perennial with the Earth, with Freedom, Law and Love, A grand, sane, towering, seated Mother, Chair’d in the adamant of Time.
