Finally someone created this! There were so many parallels in the story and cinematography! I feel Paul is the combination of John Snow and Dany. Where John always denied his position or claim to the throne, the same way Paul did in the beginning and Dany is the part where he owns it which in the end it leads to his downfall - the same way it unfolded for Dany

We never really see her in a maternal role (barring fire-breathing lizards of uncertain sapience). I am curious how she would handle Paul's rejection of the destiny chosen for him, versus Jessica. Would she accept a son that did not want to reclaim their House's ancient seat, like Duke Leto does comparably for Paul? Or, like Jessica, would she try to force him into the mold she made for him? Especially if in this scenario, she comes to see him as The Prince That Was Promised, and anchors her dreams on that hope, like Stilgar does in Dune Part II? At her most sympathetic, Daenerys is a scared young girl with more power than sense, who is desperately trying to carve out a home for herself. Despite what she did to him, Viserys' dreams became hers. That is proven by the fact that, despite having means and opportunity to establish herself in Essos, she still seeks to reclaim her birthright, and is willing to expend a lot of effort and blood to achieve that. That's a great burden to assume, and no less so to place upon another. If she had Paul (say her first child survives), would she prioritize his needs for safety and stability? Or would she conflate her dreams with his needs, imposing the same burden upon her son that her brother did to her, and groom him into her crown prince, her political tool to entice the Great Houses through promises of marriage, and her fellow dragonrider on the battlefield? Knowing both Herbert and Martin, I know which one both authors would most likely write.

@@MasteringJohn I believe she would, because when you look at her actions aside from season 7-8 (no context from the original story). She had compassion and even chose to stay in Mereen to fix the corruption that was going on int hat city. Her true nature was said by Jorah "You may try to hide it, but you have a good heart". At her core she was very compassionate but not in the sense that people are used to which I think is why they decided to butcher her character. I have not read all of GOT but what I have read, she has that same core there too. When would come to her children, I don't think it would be any different to what we've already seen and I truly do not believe she would mold her children into what she wanted BECAUSE of what her brother attempted to do her. Herbert I don't know. As for knowing Martin, how so? His story has yet be finished...

@@icefiredawn - "At her core she was very compassionate but not in the sense that people are used to which I think is why they decided to butcher her character." She has compassionate sentiments and can empathize with those who suffer due to having shared in that suffering. Her noblest moments are rooted in that. However, some of the most vicious acts imaginable have been driven by love, when the object of that love was threatened or destroyed. Lady Stoneheart and show Cersei (less so book Cersei) are both good examples of this. Love for one's children isn't the same as being willing to let them go their own way. Catylen certainly loved Arya, but she didn't approve of her Lyanna-esque tendencies, due to her own upbringing and social expectations as someone from the south of Westeros. Jessica definitely loves Paul, but that doesn't stop her from trying to force him into the role of the Kwisatz Haderach. Paul definitely has compassion for the Fremen, but that doesn't stop him from manipulating them to serve as his tools of vengeance upon the Emperor and the Harkonnens. All of the protagonists in both series want to rule justly and do right by the people, yet their actions are also what result in the deaths of countless ordinary, unnamed people (the millions dead by Paul's Jihad, the thousands dead by Daenerys' sack of Mereen, followed by mass murder and looting as the starving hordes which followed her pillage the city). One thing that Herbert and Martin both do really well is demonstrate how intentions and consequences often differ widely from each other, when people attempt to exercise political power in real life. - "As for knowing Martin, how so? His story has yet be finished..." As I understand it, Daenerys is heavily hinted to be the future cause of the destruction of King's Landing in the books, though I suspect it will happen before the Others breach the Wall. Based on her dreams of a cloth dragon cheered by the crowd and Quaithe's warning to her of "the mummer's dragon", my guess is that Young Griff, AKA, Aegon NotBlackfyre (who's the real driving force of Varys' character arc and is cut from the show) will be the one to take control of King's Landing rather than Cersei, and in defiance of what she expects, will be loved by the people. Perhaps the people will even learn that he's not a Targaryen...and not care, because words like Targaryen and Blackfyre don't mean anything to the common peasant's daily life (the last Blackfyre Rebellion was in Tywin's youth). I don't think she'll go bonkers in the books (at least, not completely). I think that in a moment of anger she will attempt to use dragonfire to force the city to heel...only to inadvertently kindle the Mad King's old murder-suicide stockpiles of wildfire (which grow *more* potent with time), and accidentally burn the city and Aegon NotBlackfyre with it, cementing her reputation as a murderer and leaving her wracked with guilt.

@@MasteringJohn I respect your opinion, but as I do not see comparing everyone as if all are driven by the same core as the correct viewpoint of character existence/personality paths we will not see this the same. Not everyone loves the same, and apologies if someone is forcing a child to be what they want, that is not love that child that is wanting them for your own benefit, like a doll or something that can be controlled. As you have touched on something personal in my own history we are to agree to disagree sir. You stand on your side, I stand on mine. I find your viewpoint very in depth and I admire that but I will not agree with it due to life experiences. Have a great day

Interesting point of comparison which highlights where I think GOT went wrong. In Dune Part II, Paul is intimately aware of how terrible he is becoming, yet his circumstances make it ambiguous as to how much is his fault. He doesn't want a holy war, does everything he can to avoid it, and in the end is forced on to that path by cruel necessity. This makes him sympathetic, and in turn make his actions understandable (though not justifiable). The audience is also clued into this through Chani, serving as the voice of doubt that we see increasingly vindicated as Paul embraces the darker parth. This is different from the book, as there she's fully-onboard with Paul's crusade, and it's no coincidence that many readers then still thought Paul was genuinely a hero, as they didn't pick up on what he was becoming. In Game of Thrones, there is no obvious indication until the last two seasons that Daenerys will fall from her claimed ideals. Everything, from the surrounding characters, to the villains, to the musical cues, project a character that is righteously punishing evil. There's no hint of the consuming fire she may become, no omen of the madness that might kindle within her. So when she does what she has always been doing, just in Westeros, the sudden reframing of her actions as dark and suspicious doesn't have the impact it should on the audience. Rather than justified, her counsellors' suspicion of her look like part of what drives her to madness, rather than a reasonable reaction to it. Both Paul and Daenerys have extenuating circumstances behind their actions, including direct warping of their own wills (prophecy juice, Targaryen madness). The difference lay in how the potential for their future misdeeds was communicated (or not communicated) to the audience, and how well the extenuating circumstances were integrated with their respective character arcs.

Paul isn't a white savior. The Fremen were the ones who used the Atreides for their own purposes, forcing Jessica to choose between death for herself and her son and becoming their Reverend Mother, then forcing her to drink the Water of Life (which would have killed her if she didn't know poison transmutation, an advanced technique). The Water of Life altered her mind due to unlocking her genetic memory...which is Hakonnen. This greatly increased her propensity for ruthlessness (imagine if you suddenly awoke with the memories of multiple generations of history's worst tyrants). That's the tragic irony of it: in their attempts to control the situation to make war upon the Harkonnens, the Fremen unknowingly position a mind-warping witch with Harkonnen sensibilities, who is desperate to protect her son at any cost, where she can identify and groom their most vulnerable into fanatics. The same happens to Paul for the same reason when he drinks, and poor unborn Alia is utterly screwed from the beginning. The Fremen are sympathetic, but like the Atreides, if you see them only as the victims of outsiders, you've missed the point. Also in the books, Chani is a red-head, and the Fremen generally are described as having tanned, leathery skin. It's set thousands of years in the future, so today's racial dynamics don't really apply.
