Hi, I understand how a hydrostatic drive works, however on large tractors that have multiple speed ranges(working speed, slow, medium, fast, and on-road travel/max speed), do they have an intermediate gearbox between the hydraulic motor and the drive wheels to select the speed range and withing that speed range it operates as a standard hydrostatic drive or do they uses significantly larger pumps to move more hydraulic fluid turning the motor significantly faster and the tractor goes faster?

My log splitter has lost 90% of it's power. When I operate it, it blows hydraulic fluid out of the reservoir. Any ideas where I should start looking for the problem?

I have a 1991 MTD 20 Ton log splitter with a DUERR 717-0887a hydraulic pump. The pump leaks oil where the pipe goes in the bottom return line side of pump. and it's NOT leaking where the hose connects to this pipe, some times the pipe just falls out the pump. Do you know what is suppose to hold the pipe in? How many GPM is this pump and if I need to get a new pump, what pump would be compatible? The splitter works very well but hydraulic fluid is getting expensive---Any help appreciated

You do a great job describing this system. I have an Cat IT12F Loader putting transmission fluid into the hydraulic system, do you have an idea what the common point would be? (no manual) Thank You

So I have this excavator that don't stop swinging until you turn the control the other way and on a slope the bucket will swing down hill if I don't counter it with the control. What is are the possible reasons for this?

I yruly appreciate your video, a friend bought one and I wasn't sure how it worked. I'll say this, I don't like it. It seems like you have to be a bit violent on it to get it into lock position. You would think you could go past center and pop a lever into place, or it would do it automatically. However, it's far better than my JD 500C BHL because that model uses a trasport pin you physically insert. And if your hydraulics leak internally within the boom, or you forget the pin is in place, you snap the piece off the main cast trundle, or whatever it's called. And mines been welded 20X by the previous owner, so I don't even transport the thing. Thanks for the video.

Welcome to my channel. I am a red seal licensed Heavy Equipment Technician (421A Ontario) since 1989, and I recently got my EGSA Journeyman Technician certificate. I am an educator. I am not servicing equipment professionally and I do not compete with my colleagues or graduates, therefore this channel is about general education and gives a sampling of the kind of lessons one can expect in a trade related college program. This channel isn't for me helping you fix a specific machine for free. Please hire a pro.
