I think you got the cost of housing wrong. Yes, city center is expensive, but as you mentioned the subway and bus systems are used by these young workers extensively to commute to work from suburbs maybe 10 to 20 miles away where rent and purchase prices are much lower. Those working in a factory, get housing, albeit dormitory style, and some companies offer subsidized meals. Nowadays, with the housing market crashing, some house prices have dropped 50 to 70%. Seniors do exist in Shenzhen. We seniors get a city card that allows free travel on buses and metros, it also allows us free entry into the various theme parks and once in a while special things pop up aimed at seniors. The city also provides a small monthly allowance for senior citizens of Shenzhen. Many of us live in or near city center because we bought our homes 20 to 30 years ago. Yes, we cannot afford our homes today, even with the crashing housing market because housing has gone up 10 times from 20 years ago.(now about half that)

I think Shenzhen is a great place to live (minus the heat and rain), but a weirdly boring place to visit, despite the modernity. There's not much in the way of culture there. If I wanted to go to a beach in the very south of China, I'd rather just go to Hainan. No reason to stop in Shenzhen.

Forget to mention the EV culture. All buses and taxis are electric and a huge number of private cars have green number plates.

Your video is so beautiful. The edit is great and smooth, your voice is so relaxing and welcoming and the content is simple and smart. Yet, I would love to hear more about the inconvenience of living in this City because I want to have a more realistic look. Love from Morocco

Great video..! I lived in Shenzhen from 2004 to 2018. It was AMAZING witnessing one of the biggest development stories in history. I have travelled to many other cities and countries but no where comes even close to what Shenzhen has to offer in terms of having a good quality of life and opportunities..Love you 深圳 !

Given Sham Chun is a Cantonese territory there is hardly anyone know how to speak the language. All they speak is fake Chinese - mandarin. Very disappointing! Many of its residents are from other provinces especially the north. They should just go back to their homes and the Cantonese should reclaim the territory. It was so wrong China is dictated by the Northern post Manchurian mandarin motherFers. Hope Sham Chun will one day be Sham Chun instead of the ugly word of Shenzhen.
