They forgot to mention how breaking their legs and chasing them for 30 min is considered a 'humane' practice, according to their Winnemucca office. I can't even imagine the other tortures they enact on these wild creatures if this was acceptable: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqC6daiIhs57nKc

"The BLM policies and staff prioritize the well-being and humane care of all wild horses during all gather operations," bureau spokeswoman Heather O'Hanlon said in an email to The Associated Press on Monday. This office considers breaking horses' legs then chasing them for 30 minutes "humane". I shudder to imagine what other tortures they inflict on wild animals if that incident is considered acceptable. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqC6daiIhs57nKc

Good to see the maintenance and hard work: Looks Good. I was out there in the late 8O's with Robert Hohne and the S.C.A. / B.L.M. working at Grimes Point archaeological interpretive trail site doing trail maintenance as well. It looked like it went the same, with the same trail tools of the trade. Water bars and Rock bars. It's all good to see.

Do you know if anyone has photos or video from the January 2009 Callaghan gather? I was curious to see if my mustang was photographed in the wild during capture. :)

Now if you would manage feral horses the same way range conditions would be even better.
@jennifercorly11 жыл бұрын
there needs to be a lot more of this...no more going to holding please! they all need to be released. by gelding the stallions, you're managing these great equines into extinction and the taxpayers can't afford the holding pens...it's madness!
@jennifercorly11 жыл бұрын
couldn't agree more...release them back to the range, their home, and don't separate them!

Liars !!! You Spend our tax dollars and do nothing but lie to the public about why you are doing what You do. I hope every tax payer in America wakes up and realizes that the BLM only caters to special interest groups, Cattlemans Association who only gives America 3% of the beef raised on OUR land.Those are OUR horses,Leave them the hell alone and stop wasting tax payers dollars.

BLM, can you please update us on the status of these horses now? I'm looking for specifics. Thank you.

Gee, kittyslider, I don't have to personally observe slavery or dogfighting or trapping to know that it's cruel and wrong. And I guess that's the beauty of research, internet access, and sharing information with others. We learn from each other. Novel idea, eh? I don't believe in welfare ranching. The $1.35/mo. fee per 2 cows on public lands is obscene. I want horses there and predators free from persecution. Please educate yourself.

Pamela, have you personally observed a BLM gather before? If you haven't, don't pretend to know what they are "truly" like. This is a completely fair and honest depiction. The BLM is doing their best to manage these areas for both cattle and horses. Why is everyone so convinced this is evil??

Who owns the ranch? Are they "friends" of someone in the BLM? Did they complain about the horses? What is the history there? Lots of political questions arise from this "outing."
@kajohnson980512 жыл бұрын
Good point and it would have saved a lot of the tax payer's gas money used pushing them inhumanely at the old barbed wire.
@pamelaw372512 жыл бұрын
It's so relaxing and upbeat with the music in the background. Glad you have nothing better to do, BLM, than make it seem palatable and friendly. In fact, you're orchestrating the terrorization of these magnificent wild animals. Why? Oh - that's right...ranchers, livestock, cheap leases. You are paragons of virtue.
@pamelaw372512 жыл бұрын
OOOhhh, where can I get hold of this heroic wrangler? Nice job,snatching that baby out of the wild so s/he can live the rest of his/her days in captivity with mama, making some rancher friend of yours rich for housing them in some pathetic pen. Tell me, wrangler, does it arouse you to wreck the lives of these creatures? Bet I know what you do on your days off...and...uh....when nobody's looking.
@pamelaw372512 жыл бұрын
Once again, I'm impressed with BLM's expertise. Obviously, these suffering, barely-surviving wild horses need to be removed from public lands for their own sake. BLM, our heroes! Which welfare rancher(s) are waiting in the wings to snap up the obscenely cheap leases for their cattle and sheep?
