Same thing here. Been pretty steady on and off for about the last 3 weeks or so. Fixing to rent a unit here in the next day or two to stash all my extra gear. (It's at a buddies right now) You know, dry, clean, something with metal walls and a concrete floor. Between tools and winter gear goes to shit quick if it's not in a place that they can be hung up and /or aired out. Give me a place to operate out of for a minute. Need to replace some worn gear, do some work on the bike. You know shit that's hard to do in a Walmart parking lot.

Have to make a quick clarification. 5 litres is about the bare minimum amount of water (total) to survive a day, "comfortably". Mild environments. 16oz coffee in the morning 16oz tea in the afternoon 16-32oz for hygiene and cleaning 3 litres for drinking water. Hotter/drier/high altitude environments will require 4-6 litres of drinking water alone, so figure around 8 litres (2 gals total) for these extreme type situations. (Minimum).

Thanks Guys. Kind of bulky but it burns cleaner than the iso-butane/propane mix. Tanks are easier to come by on the road and with the adapter hose that I have I can refill them for about $1.50 apiece instead of anywhere from $8-$12 per tank at a store. Works good as a hand warmer/ tent heater too. 😁

Rode all day yesterday in it. 40 miles. Went to check out a fishing spot along the Wisconsin River till I got there and realized the flooding was wayyyyy worse. No where to camp unless you were using a hammock.But you'd still be standing in a foot of water in what is normally a woodland. 1/2 mile off the river in some parts. Skeeters, relentless. I was like f- this. Came back to the same spot and am currently drying out my shit. Need a weatherproof camera. Phones all I have for pics. It was coming down.

It's all good in the hood baby. I think that's a prerequisite isn't it? Coffee, tea, tire patch kit, etc. Yeah man, not alot you can do when you're stealth/camp/living. A spots a spot. Even though you're parked at the bottom of a widowmaker and the drainage sux. Ground traffic fucking airplanes, hot air ballons or drones or who the fuck ever. You gotta kinda weigh your options for each individual situation. As you can see the ship took on a little water from a "tactical" perspective it was pretty well hid.

It depends on where you are what you've brung with you and the terrain. A tarp is always good in the rain but even better is building a trench around the tent to pool water away from it
@BlazeYourOwnPath
@BlazeYourOwnPath 4 ай бұрын
Funny you should mention that (trench). I had to dig a little offshoot to give the water somewhere to go about an hr. into the storm...😁🤘😎 As far as gear I load pretty heavy so I usually have everything and the kitchen sink. Check out my video "Ultralight Camping this Aint."

Also, using a tarp under your tent on a bed of moss keeps the floor from getting too wet
@BlazeYourOwnPath
@BlazeYourOwnPath 4 ай бұрын
Yeah, diggit. My tent has a lightweight "footprint" attached to it which helps but like you said I usually survey the terrain pretty well before I pick a site unless for stealth reasons you gotta be in the bog. Lots of conifers where I'm at and have found that a nice bed of pine needles seems to have the best drainage. 😁🤘😎

pretty sure I one read that running off the rain on your tarp will also help to filter it, of course running it through cotton and or boiling it are probably safer to do.

I've got a Sawyer Mini and an MSR handpump style filter I use if I'm going to pull it from a lake, stream, or pond. I've been living off my bike and trailer for 5yrs. now all over the US. Am in the Midwest now. Winter sucks but so does being in the desert where it's 100 by noon everyday and you have to travel 15 miles round-trip to the nearest water source everyday so you have to pic the lesser of two evils I guess.

Yeah Brother. Kind of a toss up isn't it? Having been all over this great land of ours you can either curse the rain or the sand and the sun or try to adapt. All I know I s that water weighs alot and at 8lbs a gallon you don't realize how much you need in a day until you have to bring it with you or (hopefully) collect from a nearby river, stream, or off the top of a tarp. 😁

Not only that but by collecting almost 2 gals of rainwater I don't have to spend the next 2hrs. running it through a filter either. 😁🤘😎

Then dipped in white chocolate. 😁 When you've covered 30 miles in 4 hrs and your ass is about to drop to the floor because you haven't eaten anything. Hard to eat and peddle. Eating on the side of a busy hiway sucks. Just a little kick in the ass with some caffeine to power you through so you can get the hell off the road and find somewhere to hunker down.
