One of my most cherished guns from my Dad. This was the first gun I was allowed to hunt by myself with and it even went to college with me and fed me squirrels when I could get time to hit the woods. Wear and weakening spring will reduce it's ability to extract and eject the spent cases. Keep it clean and lubed and your chances get above 50% otherwise you have to get in there and dig it out. Still a great shooter after so many years!
@oddballschtuffКүн бұрын
This one has been in my wife’s family for many years. I was pleasantly surprised with how accurate this was. My first 22 was a Stevens single shot. It makes you really appreciate semi autos, and it makes you take time on your shots so you don’t waste your ammo. Good to know on the lubrication. It’s probably about due for a lube service. These are solidly built, and I can’t wait to hand it down to one of my daughters. I just wanna make sure that whoever they marry isn’t afraid of guns before I give it to them. I don’t want them pawning off a family heirloom. We don’t have near as many squirrels out here like you do in Pennsylvania. I sure miss how green it was out there.

I took mine apart, reblued and refinished the stock, polished the internals, etc. Now, after I put it back together, the bolt is really hard to retract. I don't remember if it was that way when I bought it or not. Any ideas why that might be?
@oddballschtuff15 күн бұрын
Something may be out of alignment, but without seeing it it’s tough. Is there any extra build up on the pieces after refinishing? There is and should be a little bit of resistance with how the shell ejector works. Possibly after cleaning it it allowed the detent to catch and operate more effectively? Does it cycle properly and does it eject ammunition properly?
@joshhencik184915 күн бұрын
@@oddballschtuff It cycles properly. Haven't tried a live round, but I should do that. Will report back. These are so simple, there is really only one way to put them together. Not sure how I could have messed it up.
@oddballschtuff14 күн бұрын
@@joshhencik1849yeah, they are super simple. It seams like there should be a little resistance then a release that helps the shell eject, if I remember correctly. If that’s not it, I’ll get mine out in the next few days and double check. Let me know if I need to do a video on the action cycling?

@@oddballschtuff Thanks for all your help. It's still stiff, but loosened up a bit when I played with the leaf spring under the ejector.
