This is much easier to listen to, thank you for the upload. There are also early mixes released from the 2003 OBO sessions that made it to the album, and they also sound much better than the final product. I agree that the engineering to some extent is to blame, but comparing early mixes and the final ones quite clearly indicate that the mastering is to mostly to blame.

Just read a story about audio engineers and how they're the last people to touch the music before it goes public. I'll have to revisit when I'm able to play KZbin on my home stereo more directly. Right now it's a Chromecast through my phone. Although, I had heard that YT compresses music to avoid people copying it from the site.

I love how Noel and Liam heard other engineers do nice wide mixes of there songs, but decided on Owen who overly distorted all there songs and boosted the crap out of the guitar volume because he was going deaf.

The original production and mastering on this album is a crime against music. This was the first cd that gave me a headache, and that was while driving with the windows open! Terrible. Thanks for rescuing it.

This does feel noticeably more lively than the original, however I wonder if the vinyl pressing, which is typically mastered quieter, would be better overall, or perhaps combined with your methods could be absolutely superb? I've been trying to find the vinyl pressing, ripped to digital, but so far I can't find it. I did find this page however! Which sounds much improved! Nice work

@@CrowkeeperStudios Maybe! I'm not sure. Some vinyl releases feature different mastering, but others face the same mastering as the CD release.

@@Dynamic_Editor I did manage to find someone who did feature 1 song from the vinyl version and it DOES seem to be less compressed, though they did a very noisy job at capturing the turntable, but if captured well, that version already seems to be cleaner with more DR. Combined with your technique, it could give the absolute DEFACTO version, the 1 to have! Just my thought!
