I would like to try this mountain but does it get packed, including on weekdays and on Sundays in January and February?

Weekdays are usually fine
@tenderpawsm4738 күн бұрын
Some have said that it gets so packed that there is no parking. If I go on a weekday, maybe I'll do Sunapee or Waterville. If I can only make it up on a Saturday, maybe I'll consider Ragged?

Sunapee IS the closest New Hampy ski resort from N.Y. But aren't the lodging options at the mountain limited? I was thinking of staying in Keene if I were to ski there. They have hotels.

I like the outer barn structure that surrounds both and top terminals. From a lift ops perspective, this looks great for snow control as you won't have to be shoveling your load/unload ramps often.

My favorite ski area. Most of the Joeys( beginners) stay on the lower mountain. Upper mountains are populated by advanced skiers! Love the "slow" lifts. Lets my 70+ year old legs rest between runs. Groomers are made for high speed (50+ MPH) runs which my kids and I love. Can't complain about the VERY affordable senior season ticket price! Definitely a 10!
@ernestdunphy702722 күн бұрын
I saw that somewhere you could not really ski top to bottom and that was just vertical inflator. I guess that was wrong. Was it a good run in your opinion, were there a lot of flats?
@beyondthelodge19 күн бұрын
I think what that person means is that most runs don't run the entire vertical, this is pretty much the only one. There are some flats part but I find it enjoyable overall

Interesting that Pride only has an operating speed of 4.9 mps, but to the average rider it probably won't make much of a difference.

I mean it’s the largest ski resort in New York so I wouldn’t say the gondola is not fun at all but I think it is great because it has heaters inside it and there is cool seats and the red one was made in 1967 and it was replaced into the Northwoods gondola in 1999 so yeah it’s cool but the best part is that gore mountain made ski trails and opened it up in 1934 what a long long LONG time ago and yeah that is my favorite mountain and I will never forget about it because of the gondola and how the chairlifts are fast and the gondola is so fast and there is a saddle lodge but I wouldn’t get ahead of you on this mountain but it is bigger that whiteface mountain, west mountain, McCauley mountain, Oak mountain, hickory ski center, royal mountain ski area and lastly Belleayre mountain and the 3 mountains that have gondolas are : Gore mountain, Whiteface mountain, and lastly Belleayre Mountain in Ny

Wow do they stretch to get the "first open" bragging rights, if you can call it that. I been to a few other mountains that required uploading & downloading on opening weekend, but in those cases, you can ski from the top of the access lift to the lapping lift, and at the end of the day, you can ski back from the lapping lift to the access lift, no hike in or out required.

a classic blue cruiser with excellent vert, pitch, and fall line. Nothing wrong with doing 11-12 minute laps. Such a fantastic way to pound out the vert.

Sundance at JH or Limelight at SV?? Which do you think is better to lap as they are somewhat comparable steeper groomers with a lot of vert.

Replacing this lift with a detachable is just overkill in my opinion. The ride time is a solid 7 minutes which is neither too short nor too long. A detachable here would be a mere 2 minutes, that just makes you miss out on the break between ski runs.
@piotrdwojak247716 күн бұрын
No no, they're gonna reuse this lift and put it in the e-lifts place. Same thing they did with the snowlite express.

@@piotrdwojak2477 still, a detachable is excessive here. For some reason no American ski resort bothers to consider fixed grip 6-packs

Loved Wildcat as a kid many years ago,especially with it's view of Mt Washington and Tuckerman Ravine ( skied there as well - incredible experience!). If you haven't been there yet, you need to go to Sugarloaf during the weekdays when there are almost zero lift lines and very inexpensive lift tickets. Best mountain on the East!

I think that Okemo has some fairly steep runs on the Jackson Gore side (though it has been a while since I have skied there). Though it is true that an Okemo diamond is not quite like a Cannon diamond. What I do not like is that I'd have to pull out the plastic and that they won't accept my dollars at Vail acquired ski resorts. But the same is true at Belleayre (and now Gunstock). Smh. I think that at Jiminy and Berkshire East, they have to accept cash, BUT the Massachusetts ski areas are smaller.
