Army experience tells me that the Scammel was not trying very hard. They are capable of so much more.

You're right, the Scammell found it an easy job... the modern JCB in the background had already failed!

Not ethical - appraising it at a low value and then trying to pressure them to sell it at an even lower value. Post 1945 examples worth more than double what he said, so older would be more valauble. I know it has been a few years since this video was made, but Bonham's sold a similar one for £1062.00 last year.

I guess he does know his business if he can fool people into selling him £1000 items for £200. But don't ask him for an honest valuation.

For those who have messaged on here and privately about the music, it's actually American Rock 'n' Roll star Carl Perkins... used because we had just played it on the event radio station (www.radiowarandpeace.org) who's window we filmed this from (and because 40's jitterbug and 50's rock 'n' roll are a big part of the event).

I think it is from Guangxu period, later 19 century. The shape and size is good, but it is damaged. So 500 pounds maximum. If it is in perfect condition 3000-5000 pounds. If it is Kangxi period, 17 century. It can be double the value.

Looks fantastic! Having visited Leeds on a number of occasions I can confirm that it's a wonderful city packed full of activities for the entire family. Whether you're looking for a place to shop or some fresh air, Leeds has something to offer. Although, when you do visit the city I strongly recommend having a vehicle to hand. It will give you much more freedom to visit the other areas outside of the centre, which are often the best. There are a number of local companies to hire vehicles from, including 4x4vehiclehire.co.uk/4x4-hire-leeds/. All I can say is that you will have a wonderful time!!

I am so glad that somebody got this on film! This is us in our 1943 Scammell Pioneer. We heard that the Fire Truck was stuck and needed help on the War and Peace Radio, so we went to the rescue. The fire crew didn't believe that it could tow it out but we proved them wrong. Thanks for filming it and posting it on here! :)
