wow this looks so different than the v.1 on computer. very interesting. are you able to cross play with other systems?
@ChaosCabin3 сағат бұрын
Unfortunately, no cross platform play. This was originally released as an early development game, but then the console version was bought by another company that promptly went out of business, so it was never updated. The PC version continued to be updated for years. The original company recently got the console rights back, and then ported the pc version to the latest version of consoles. The current version of the game has evolved into a different style of game. This older game seems to be more about surviving in a zombie apocalypse. The new game is more about building systems to process as many zombies possible. I also like the old game as it is couch coop compatible, so I can play with family and friends. It also supports network play, but only ps4 to ps4, or xbox to xbox. In the new version, they left couch co op out, so my friends and I aren't rushing to buy it. This older version has been pulled from the online stores to coerce people to get the new one, but can still be found in used game shops, ebay etc. Sorry for the long ramble, thanks for watching! I hope you come back.

I know for a lot of people this game is all about killing zombies, but building a survivor horde base is a lot of fun as well and is always one of my main objectives. I see a lot of the new videos about the new version 1.x and the focus seems to be on seeing how many zombies can be "processed" by building a horde base that is just for that. That's cool, and it's one way to play the game for sure. However, there's something to be said for an imaginative survival base build. That's why in this series I will be building a variety of base types with both practical use, and aesthetics factored in. For this particular base, I have about three levels planned. A horde fighting level, a living and crafting level, and a garden in the sky level. possible with a patio. If you think you're done with this game, maybe you just haven't used your imagination...

Agree on the building aspect. Been a few years and I am still enjoying building bases. I look forward to seeing how you envision using some of the various building pieces. I find myself using the same materials and are looking forward to seeing how other pieces can be put to use. Perhaps one day you can preview the 1.x version and see how it compares in the building and exploration categories to this older console version.
@ChaosCabin29 күн бұрын
@@gradyharris8021 I would like to do that - compare the two for building. There are several differences and more shapes in the new version. I'm concerned some of the old tricks, or, hacks are gone in the new one. I also like the ability to select a shape in the game world and have it come right up in the crafting menu. Thanks for watching!

I still play the legacy version. I bought a new Series X but haven't hooked it up yet. We've been so busy at work that I'm not ready to dive into a brand new game and enjoy my well known and loved legacy. I'm currently running a world with a floating base and one where I'm bunkered into the side of a mountain outside of the forest trader.
@ChaosCabin3 ай бұрын
Series X, nice! I know there is quite a bit of difference between this version and the new one although I don't have the newer console, so haven't played it. It seems the focus may have changed to mostly a shooter, but maybe that's just how the uploaders I've seen are choosing to play. I'm also bummed that the new version doesn't support split screen. Great graphics, though. I love the floating base style, those look awesome. I also have a bunker in the side of the mountain near the trader. In addition to the base, I use it for mining. Unfortunately, when I try to enter the trader, I get bounced back out now. Thought it would correct itself after a session or a reboot, but no. Hence the move to the desert!

@ChaosCabin6 ай бұрын
Yeah, zombies to a distraction. I will definitely do a more serious base tour with more in depth explanations as the base nears completion. (these things are never actually "done") The arched doorways - first time I've done them that way, but I'm trying to go for "beyond basic utility" and build towards something aesthetically pleasing. Also, that's the first time I've worked with adobe. I feel that too often, survivors just go for utilitarian construction with little regard for what is possible with the building blocks offered. OK, that's enough for now, I'll stop ;-) Thanks for watching, and thanks for commenting.
@jessetalksallthingstdcjand54946 ай бұрын
I enjoyed the tour, minus all the party crashers. Next time you do one, disable the zombies in the settings menu, do the tour video and you can turn them back on afterwards. Its somewhat distracting and hard to follow with the fight interruptions but otherwise, awesome base and I'm totally stealing the floating garden set up.
@ChaosCabin6 ай бұрын
Yeah, it's hard to find the balance. I don't like to engage the "cheat" modes as it is the zombie apocalypse, and one wouldn't be able to turn them off when it's convenient. Also, I'm sometimes concerned a zombie survival channel might be boring without zombies, but when I looked at my raw footage, I realized how little of it was actually base tour, and rushed at that. So I tried to make the zombie encounters quick, but highlighted the interesting parts. When we get the base closer to completion, I'll do a more serious version. This was the first time I used adobe, and the first time I used the kitchen cabinets as floor blocks, resulting in a ton of storage, but I didn't have time to properly discuss it. floating gardens - I have most of the footage to do one on finding a house, and making it into a floating house. Its just going to take a lot of editing, which as you know, means time! The next video will most likely be a rebuild, but industrial strength, of the 5 minute base and spending a horde night in it to see if I can live through it. Did you catch my last video showing the destruction of the simple 5 minute base on a horde night. Action packed, lol. Thanks for stopping by...
@jessetalksallthingstdcjand54946 ай бұрын
@@ChaosCabin Don't take my comment as critical or condescending at all. I enjoy your shows and have watched each video from start to finish. You build bases I could only imagine possible and have gotten a lot of ideas from them, especially the trader glitch to do boulder farms. My point was, as a KZbinr, to stick to a fundamental and title. If you advertise a base tour for 14 mins and its 5 mins, the perception of future videos can diminish and the term Clickbate applied. I mention that because its happened in my videos and I've had to change up titles and approaches; that's all my point is. I understand not using creative-cheat mode as I dislike it myself but it can be a necessary evil to get your point across, especially if you're trying to do an educational and informative focused situation as opposed to a casual play through where anything and everything can happen. Keep the shows coming and maybe we could join up sometime in game?
@ChaosCabin6 ай бұрын
@@jessetalksallthingstdcjand5494 You raise some good points and I largely agree. Especially with this one where the base tour is such a relatively small part of the video. I'll figure out how to re-title it so I avoid the clickbait label. I see creators doing a build on day six and I'm thinking, "how did they get that much steel block?!" and then realize they're using creative mode. Or they have a high level weapon and minibike in the first week. I like to do mine so the viewer sees I'm building with all the threats and challenges they would be if they were playing the game, and my videos are sort of a, "lets have a (drink of viewers choice) and hang out together. I try to do something different with my videos, although I know I probably verge on over producing them, what with the music soundtrack, slow motion effects, fast motion effects, lighting adjustments, audio enhancements, etc.. My goal was for each video to be like a small movie telling a story. My plan was to put out a video a week. So far it's been every two weeks to a month, as I get so deep in the weeds with editing. But these videos are my first attempt at editing, so I'm still spending a lot of time figuring it out. Surely I'll get faster at some point, right? LOL. As far as joining up, are you on pc or console?
