I wonder what ever happened to Kamal? I know Johnny Brennan went on to voice the Mort Goldman character of Family Guy, but I always wondered what happened to Kamal. I'm in my late-40s, but I used to listen to these guys throughout the 90s and into the 2000s.

at the planning for the bridge in the 1930s, then Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia wanted a tunnel instead. A bridge can collapse which would block the access to the Atlantic Ocean. A tunnel can't do that. LaGuardia didn't prevail, perhaps due to traffic official Robert Moses. I believe a tunnel would have been a better choice.
@RonGerstein3 ай бұрын
Originally, the Brookkyn-Battery Tunnel was to be a bridge, but they made it a tunnel while the Narrows tunnel became a bridge.

This bridge scared the crap out of me whenever my dad would drive over it when I was a kid. I've driven over numerous times as an adult and it still drives me nuts. The crazy part is that driving on the upper deck is less panic inducing for me than the lower deck.

Ok I'm going to correct you.. The house for the Blind children was around the corner on 84th Street. I lived at 1258 84th street. The original blind home was next to the row of brick houses that are there now. One being Joe Colombo Sr. House. Which was originally owned by Carmine Lombardosi. Next Door to him before he moved 4 rows of brick houses starting from the Post Office up was all the property of the Blind home. There was a big fire in the early 60s and as a little girl I watched it burning. They were throwing mattress out the top windows a few children died. Very sad. The house that you are referring to on 83rd St is the Convent house for the nNuns who taught in St. Bernadette.
@materialgirl338 Жыл бұрын
The Dexter house on 12th 83rd was purchased by my best friends the late Mrs. Marino they purchased it in maybe in early1950's they were the original Romano's Italian Restaurant on 13th Ave. The owner was a Italian immigrant and was responsible for the mini tree's in the front lawn. Later you go to the house with the "S" on the chimney that was her Son's house Owned by the "Scotto Family" who owned and operated Romano's Restaurant. The House with S Has not changed hands it is been handed down by Generations.

I lived on Palisade Avenue in Jersey City NJ and our kitchen window afforded us a PERFECT view of the building of the bridge through my high school years. Our high school, Dickinson HS on Palisade Ave. also over-looked the project. I also watched the original World Trade Center being built from those windows on which project my grandfather worked a crane on the rising roof.
