The last company to sell battleground play set was PAC Phoenix toys Mego had a beautiful art box which replaced this picture box shown here and PAC just put their logo on the box. Some of the contents changed in their battleground play set.

The German bazooka was copied after a captured American one. Called the Panzershreck. 88mm rocket. Very deadly to allied tanks.

I put a couple pennies in the bow section - about 5-6. This makes it so the ship can sink more by the head and let the stern come out of the water more before it splits.

My problem with CTS is that, years ago, they started moving in the direction of models rather than toys. You can see this in his German vehicles, for instance, which are made of stiff, model-type plastic rather than soft "unbreakable" plastic. I don't like that. I also don't like his figures for the same reason. Sure, the G.I.'s you show are nicely detailed and realistic, but they are MODEL soldiers more than toy soldiers in my opinion----and too expensive, just like his vehicles. I'd much rather stick with Timmee, which, in my opinion, is doing the same sort of true TOY soldiers like Marx produced back in the 1960's. INEXPENSIVE figures and vehicles made of soft plastic, which are nevertheless good quality.

I wish they made the jeep, the half-track, and the tank bigger.
@TP-ie3hj
@TP-ie3hj 4 ай бұрын
They did. The Half track in the training sets is of a larger scale , the tank is #41 here, but they made a larger version its numbered #51 and has a .50 cal atop it. The Jeep also was of a larger scale in other sets like the training base, daktari etc. I think the big concern was fitting it all inside the smaller boxes.

My comments not criticizing BMC soldiers I think they did very good mold of WWII soldiers. I noticed the details of infantry soldier because my father was a WWII and Korean veteran and I'm a retired army veteran twenty seven years myself so forgive me for being prone to detail of american soldier.

Hello. I came across your channel, looking for information about little soldiers, and these figures in your video have incredible detail. Especially the one with the flame thrower and the one calling on the radio. I also do my reviews of 1/32 medieval and Western figures generally, but I started with the WW2 line and similar now. There is much to learn. I subscribed and of course, the best compensation for other people's efforts, my like and comment. All the best.

I had an almost identical set from about '63 or '64, the castings were a bit crisper at the time (if I'm remembering correctly) , and the American stuff was a darker, flatter green. It did not have the 88. Most likely Xmas from either Sears or Penneys. Many hours spent assaulting the German lines! Thanks for sharing.

I had the Japanese WWII set, just regular flags no meatball and yellow cast Japs. My Americans were dark green..no flash at all...later stuff, when you'd get guys with a leg or arm missing the Black Cats would come out with a bit of twine to get things rolling....or blowing!

That second soldier running and leaning forward is NOT carrying a Luger. It's actually a "Broomhandle Mauser", an automatic pistol that was a favorite of Winston Churchill. You can see photos of it online and there are KZbin videos of it firing on full auto like a machine gun. It was what the Germans called a "Machine Pistol".
